SmackDown appearance, titles to return? - 4 directions for WWE stars who were unable to dethrone Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn at NXT Great American Bash
WWE NXT aired tonight on the SyFy Network. The program aired on a different cable station thanks to the 2024 Summer Olympics. Despite that, the developmental brand didn't take the night off by any stretch of the imagination.
The 2024 Great American Bash, which was the first of a two-week long special event, aired tonight. The show immediately kicked off with a bang, as RAW's Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn defended their coveted Women's Tag Team Titles against Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.
The Meta-Four members put on a great performance and the bout was highly competitive. In the end, however, The Unholy Union managed to hit their finisher on Jakara to retain their prized belts.
Naturally, fans are now wondering what's next for the Meta-Four members. This article will take a look at what could be next for both Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend following their loss at NXT Great American Bash.
Below are four directions for WWE stars who were unable to dethrone Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn tonight.
#4. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson could bring back the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles
The NXT Women's Tag Team Titles were introduced by WWE back on March 10th, 2021. The inaugural champions were the team of Dakota Kai and Raquel Rodriguez, then known as Raquel Gonzalez. The prized belts became a regular part of the show, but things took a turn in 2023.
On the June 23rd, 2023, edition of WWE SmackDown, the then NXT Women's Tag Team Champions lost a Unification Match to Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. The belts have remained retired ever since, much to the chagrin of many fans.
There is a chance that Lash and Jakara could bring the prized titles back to NXT. They could say that they proved themselves against main-roster talent and force Ava's hand by wearing the belts around. The women on NXT certainly deserve to have tag gold to fight for.
#3. They could chase singles gold on NXT
While NXT unfortunately lacks tag team gold at the moment, the brand still has two different championships that female WWE stars can compete for. The biggest and most prestigious title on the show is the NXT Women's Championship, which is held by Roxanne Perez.
Beyond Roxanne's belt, NXT recently introduced another title. The WWE NXT Women's North American Title is the newest on NXT and the current champion is the incredibly talented Kelani Jordan.
If tag team gold can't come their way, Lash and Jakara could focus on singles gold. The less experienced Miss Jackson can go for the Women's North American Title and The Boujee Bully can challenge Roxanne Perez for the prized NXT Championship.
#2. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend could help Oro Mensah with his NXT Title match
Meta-Four is more than just Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson. While the two female competitors are excellent, so are the male stars involved in the faction. This includes the injured Noam Dar and former NXT UK star Oro Mensah.
Oro Mensah, in particular, is also in a big spot at the Great American Bash. He will be challenging Ethan Page for the NXT Championship during the second night of the special event, which will air on the Syfy Network next Tuesday.
Lash and Jakara losing was certainly unfortunate, but they can shift their focus to try to help Meta-Four get gold. If Lash or Jakara cause a distraction next week, they might be able to help Main Man Oro win the NXT Championship for the first time in his WWE career.
#1. They could show up on SmackDown for the WWE Women's Tag Team Title match
The WWE Women's Tag Team Titles aren't just being defended on NXT this week. The prestigious tag team titles will be on the line when The Unholy Union takes on former champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on Friday Night SmackDown.
Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn won the gold from Belair and Cargill in a bout that also featured Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler. Since that time, Bianca and Jade have wanted a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship rematch and they will get it on SmackDown this Friday.
Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson could be special guests, or invaders, on Friday Night SmackDown and either interrupt the bout or attack whichever stars win the match. This could tell the champions and the higher-ups in the promotion that the two aren't done chasing gold after their major defeat on NXT.
