Stars ready to split up, injured names returning to the ring? 4 WWE duos who can dethrone The Judgment Day and win the World Tag Team Championship
WWE has many prestigious titles. Some of the gold is exclusive to RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, respectively. Then there are some belts that are inter-brand and can be defended on any of the shows.
Most titles are doing quite well under the Triple H-led regime, but the World Tag Team Championship is arguably struggling. The Awesome Truth had a lackluster reign before they lost the belts to Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
Many had hoped that The Judgment Day's victory would revitalize the prestigious title, but The Prince and The Irish Ace have only defended their prized championship once. It has been disappointing, and many are hoping a new team will win the gold soon.
Thankfully, there are numerous teams on Monday Night RAW that could dethrone the champions. This article will look at arguably the four best options. However, it notably doesn't include other quality tandems such as The Authors of Pain, various of the Latino World Order, and variations of the Wyatt Sicks. Who could be the ones to do it?
Below are four WWE duos who can dethrone The Judgment Day and win the World Tag Team Championship:
#4. The War Raiders are returning to Monday Night RAW
The Viking Raiders have been a key team on WWE television for years now. They started off as War Machine in the indies and internationally before joining NXT, where they became The War Raiders. Upon joining the main roster, Vince McMahon renamed the duo The Viking Experience and then The Viking Raiders.
Both Erik and Ivar have been out of action for quite some time due to injuries. However, several vignettes have aired in recent times, teasing their return to RAW. It has since been confirmed the videos are for them and that they're returning to television as The War Raiders.
Given how the duo have held tag team gold virtually everywhere they've gone over the years, Erik and Ivar defeating and dethroning The Judgment Day is not outside the realm of possibility. In fact, if anyone could stand a chance of taking down Finn, JD, and Co., it might just be The War Raiders.
#3. The New Day could make up and win gold
The New Day is both a tag team and a stable. Initially, the group formed about a decade ago, and it featured Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods. Unfortunately, former WWE Champion Big E suffered a crushing neck injury in 2022 and hasn't wrestled since.
Nowadays, Kofi and Xavier represent The New Day as a tag team on WWE RAW. However, they have had issues with each other in recent months. Notably, Xavier has expressed a lot of frustration with his current position in the company, and he and Kofi keep butting heads.
Hopefully, the two talented veteran performers would put their issues behind them. If they can, Woods and Kingston are major threats to the World Tag Team Title. If any team has the experience to take down Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, it's Kofi and Xavier.
#2. Alpha Academy could shock the WWE Universe
The Alpha Academy is a stable that has changed leadership in 2024. Initially, the group was more so just a tag team, featuring Otis and Chad Gable. The two WWE stars had success together, winning the RAW Tag Team Title.
Over time, Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri joined the duo, and fans fell in love with the four-person stable. Unfortunately, things went south once Chad Gable turned heel. Now he's out of the group. Thankfully, the other three remain together.
Akira and Otis actually make for a surprisingly good tag team. While they would certainly be the underdogs against The Judgment Day, Otis and Tozawa winning would shock the world and thrill fans, which is a good enough reason for it to happen.
#1. The Creed Brothers could bring gold to American Made
American Made is a faction on WWE Monday Night RAW. Chad Gable, the former leader of the Alpha Academy, created this new stable after things went awry with Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri. American Made features Gable, The Creed Brothers, and Ivy Nile.
The Creed Brothers are former NXT Tag Team Champions. Julius and Brutus Creed are accomplished amateur wrestlers who have developed nicely into their pro wrestling roles. Many believe they are future WWE Tag Team Champions, or in this case, World Tag Team Champions.
While this match would be heel vs. heel, The Creed Brothers could serve as the babyfaces for one bout only. The Judgment Day is totally hated, so Julius and Brutus would have it easy to get the crowd behind them. Perhaps they can be the first to bring gold to American Made.
