Stephen Amell surprised everyone with the way he carried himself on raw

- Arrow’s star Stephen Amell has garnered praise following his actions on RAW. Former WWE superstar Trish stratus and Paige among others were quick to praise Amell on the way he carried himself in the segments with Triple H, Neville and Stardust.

- This week an article posted by the BBC magazine website touched upon the topic of why wrestlers tend to die young citing examples such as Rowdy Roddy Piper, Curt Hennig and The Ultimate Warrior.

The article was based on the research conducted by the University of Eastern Michigan who studied a group of 557 former pro wrestlers. From the group of 62 wrestler’s who died between 1985-2011, 49 of those before died before 50. 24 out of those 49 died even before reaching the age of 40 and 2 wrestlers died before the age of 30.

According to the study, wrestlers aged between 45 and 54 had mortality rates 2.9 times greater than that of men that belonged to the wider population of the United States of America.

WWE issued a statement in response to the study via its spokesperson:

“Unfortunately, some past performers were part of a generation of wrestlers who made unhealthy and poor personal lifestyle choices, which in some cases continued beyond their years in the ring. Today’s athletes take great pride and personal responsibility for their overall health and well-being. Notwithstanding, WWE talent are subject to random drug testing and expected to live healthy lifestyles, reinforced through our Talent Wellness Program, which was instituted in 2006.”
