Why did Sting make his WWE debut on Survivor Series?
Sting, the last major active professional wrestler who has never stepped in a World Wrestling Entertainment ring, made his debut Sunday night at the 2014 Survivor Series in St. Louis. The former World Championship Wrestling star interrupted Team Authority and Team Cena’s match and gave Triple H a Scorpion Death Drop.
PWInsider.com reported that WWE scripted Sting to debut on Survivor Series to show the fans that ‘anything can happen’ and anyone can show up on the network. WWE’s new game WWE 2k15 was also given a promotional boost by the 55-year-old. The game was released at the same time the pay-per-view took place and Sting’s appearance would have definitely helped in the promotion of the game.
It is also possible that WWE officials put Sting’s name into the script earlier on in the show in order to keep his big main event angle a secret.
