Stone Cold Steve Austin in a dream match 13 years in the making? 4 WWE legends who could return for Crown Jewel

WWE only has three main roster Premium Live Events left this year. The upcoming PLE (Bad Blood) will emanate from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, this Saturday. The event will feature a Hell in Cell Match between CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will join forces to battle The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

The other two PLEs announced for 2024 include the standard Survivor Series: WarGames event, which will take place at the end of November. Meanwhile, Crown Jewel will air on November 2 live from Saudi Arabia.

Crown Jewel is particularly interesting, as the Saudi Arabia-based events often feature legends or major draws. Be it Logan Paul's first title match, the return of DX, or Goldberg vs. The Undertaker, there is typically some big hook.

This article will take a look at four legends who could potentially return to the squared circle in Saudi Arabia. In the Triple H era, these legends are likely to face main roster talent as opposed to another legend, but who could appear, and what matches make sense?

Below are four semi-retired WWE legends who could return at Crown Jewel 2024:

#4. CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin is 13 years in the making

Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the most legendary figures in WWE history. In many ways, The Texas Rattlesnake is responsible for the Stamford-based promotion's victory over World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in the Monday Night Wars. He was a big deal. Austin retired in 2003 after his third showdown with The Rock at The Show of Shows. However, he returned to the squared circle at WrestleMania 38 for an impromptu match against Kevin Owens.

Steve Austin should potentially lock horns with CM Punk at Crown Jewel. The Voice of The Voiceless returned to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut last November at the Survivor Series: WarGames PLE.

There are two main reasons why they should face off. For starters, The Texas Rattlesnake vs. The Straight Edge Superstar is a story that writes itself. Beyond that, the two had a heated interaction on RAW in June 2011. Given that Triple H loves long-term storytelling, this could be how the promo is finally paid off.

#3. Trish Stratus could return to fight Tiffany Stratton

Trish Stratus is one of the greatest female stars in WWE history. When the Sports Entertainment juggernaut's women's division was struggling to get airtime or attention, the Canadian was a shining star alongside Lita. The WWE Hall of Famer initially retired in 2006. However, she returned to the squared circle two years later. The veteran was involved in a bitter feud with Becky Lynch last year.

Trish had a verbal altercation with Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton at the titular PLE earlier this year. The veteran has since teased an in-ring return against The Buff Barbie.

The two stars clashing at Crown Jewel makes a lot of sense, as many feel Tiffany could become this generation's version of the WWE Hall of Famer. Of course, Trish was a heel when she last competed in the company, but either star's role could easily change in the next month.

#2. WWE will surely book Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock

The Rock was one of the most popular stars during The Attitude Era, just like Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Final Boss was involved in a heated feud with Cody Rhodes on the Road to WrestleMania XL.

The Great One pinned The American Nightmare in a tag team match on Night One of The Show of Shows. However, Cody responded by dethroning Roman Reigns on Night Two. Following the event, the bitter rivals had a face-to-face meeting in which The Rock promised Rhodes that their story was not over. The two stars could finally have a singles match at Crown Jewel.

#1. Goldberg could have his last match against Bron Breakker

Goldberg was one of the biggest stars in World Championship Wrestling. He later came to WWE in 2003. However, his stint proved to be a mixed bag and the veteran parted ways with the promotion after WrestleMania 20. The former World Heavyweight Champion returned for a second stint in 2016 and found far more success.

If anybody should battle Goldberg in WWE, it should be Bron Breakker. The Dog of WWE is a two-time NXT Champion, a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion, and a one-time Intercontinental Champion. He is also arguably the future of pro wrestling.

Breakker and Goldberg could clash over The Spear. Plus, the veteran could have his retirement bout and help make a star in the process.
