WWE Super ShowDown 2019: 5 Shockers & Surprises from the Saudi Arabian event
WWE returned to Saudi Arabia for the third time since last year and put on Super ShowDown in Jeddah. With a card featuring some huge names, and the first-ever match between The Undertaker and Goldberg, it certainly appeared as though the lineup could rival The Showcase of the Immortals.
Randy Orton and Triple H’s match was probably the second most anticipated match of the night. While no women’s matches were held during the night, bashing all the rumors that were circulating, Alexa Bliss and Natalya traveling with the roster indicates that something might be worked out for a women’s match in the future.
In this article, we will look at the 5 biggest surprises that we got from Jeddah during the Super ShowDown pay-per-view.
#5 No Tag Team Championship matches
Just wondering, how can WWE expect to have a WrestleMania level event without the involvement of any of its Tag Team Championships?
On Friday night, the Universal Championship, WWE Championship, and the Intercontinental Championship were up for grabs at Super ShowDown. Surprisingly, all three championships went home with the same men who walked into The Kingdom with them.
A pre-show tag team match between The Usos and The Revival also took place at the event, but it was surprising to see that none of the Tag Team titles were on the line at the event.
With Daniel Bryan choosing not to travel to The Kingdom again, one-half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions was missing. However, The Raw Tag Team Champions were at the show and competed in the Battle Royal where they came face-to-face with the biggest threats to their championships.
Why wasn’t a Raw Tag Team Championship match set for the event instead of wasting the tag team division talent in the battle royal?
