Superstar potentially retiring, hilarious comedy character - 5 surprising tag team partners Roman Reigns has had in WWE

Roman Reigns is the most dominant champion in WWE today. In fact, it could be argued that The Tribal Chief is the most dominant champion the company has seen in decades. His impressive near-1,000-day title reign certainly gives that claim more merit.

Still, Reigns hasn't become the top dog of the company on his own. Much of his success can be attributed to The Bloodline, a faction including Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, Paul Heyman, and at one time, Sami Zayn.

While much of Roman's success has come from those select stars, Reigns is also known for being one-third of The Shield. Interestingly, though, The Head of the Table has teamed up with some unexpected names in the past too.

This article will look at a handful of wrestlers Roman Reigns teamed up with in World Wrestling Entertainment in the past. While these were all short-lived or even one-offs, Roman has had some unique pairings during his career.

Below are five surprising tag team partners Roman Reigns has had in WWE.

#5. Roman Reigns teamed up with Sasha Banks in the past

Sasha Banks (aka Mercedes MonΓ©) is widely considered to be one of the greatest female superstars in WWE history. She rose through the ranks in NXT and went on to become a 10-time champion between her stints on the Black & Gold brand, SmackDown, and RAW.

The Boss teamed up with The Tribal Chief once in a Mixed Tag Team Match. The two linked up on October 10th, 2016, during an episode of Monday Night RAW. Reigns was the United States Champion, while Banks was the RAW Women's Champion.

The two battled the unique pairing of Rusev and Charlotte Flair. After a 10-minute bout in Oakland, California, Reigns and Banks defeated the despised heels and stood tall. This was the only time the two ever teamed up on television.

#4. Bray Wyatt & Roman Reigns could've been a fierce duo had they stayed united

Bray Wyatt is a decorated WWE Superstar, although he's perhaps best known for his promos and outlandish gimmicks. Still, he's captured five championships in his WWE career, including three world titles.

While Wyatt and Reigns have been enemies just about every time they've encountered one another, they did team up on one occasion, which also took place in 2016. It featured one of the smoothest and coolest finishing moments ever.

Wyatt and The Tribal Chief teamed up on April 11th, 2016, to battle The League of Nation's Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus. The unlikely duo won their match at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, thanks to a Sister Abigail on Del Rio and a massive Spear to Sheamus.

Bray's point as Roman struck The Celtic Warrior is one of the most commonly posted clips on wrestling Twitter.

#3. Randy Orton and Roman Reigns united in the past

Randy Orton's list of accolades in WWE is almost too plentiful to cover properly. He's held around 20 championships on the main roster, main evented WrestleMania, and has won key bouts, including Money in the Bank and the Men's Royal Rumble Match.

Much like Bray, Randy has often been on the opposing side of Roman Reigns. Still, they have been partners in two standard televised tag team matches. The first took place on April 27th, 2015, where they defeated Kane and Seth Rollins.

Their other big-time tag team bout took place on Friday Night SmackDown on October 6th, 2015. On that show, Randy Orton and Reigns defeated Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt by disqualification.

#2. Roman Reigns teamed up with The Miz

The Miz is another decorated WWE Superstar. Throughout his career on the main roster, he's held 20 championships, including two WWE Championship reigns. He's also one-half of the inaugural Mixed Match Classic winners.

Roman Reigns and The Miz make for one of the strangest teams ever, thanks to their different personalities and skill sets. Still, the pair teamed up on the May 13th, 2019, edition of Monday Night RAW.

The two former world champions took on Bobby Lashley and Elias in a tag team bout from the O2 Arena in London, England. Like in most bouts, Roman won, but he and The Miz only got the victory by disqualification.

#1. R-Truth & Roman Reigns have surprisingly teamed up in WWE

R-Truth is a beloved WWE Superstar. While most fans love him for his comedic antics, he's also a multi-time champion. In fact, he's held 59 titles while in WWE! Granted, 54 of those were the 24/7 Championship, but that still means he held other titles five times.

While the pairing of The Miz and Roman Reigns is one of the strangest in his career, The Tribal Chief teaming up with R-Truth has to be the absolute oddest. The two teamed up on May 28th, 2019, during an episode of SmackDown.

The Friday Night SmackDown bout saw Reigns and Truth battle Drew McIntyre and Elias live from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After just under 12 minutes, The Tribal Chief and the man who created "Get Rowdy" picked up the win.
