Survivor Series 2019: 5 Shocking scenarios that could forever alter the WWE landscape
Survivor Series weekend is finally upon us, but this time the annual battle for brand supremacy will involve NXT. No longer a mere developmental brand, the changing autumn leaves bring transformation to NXT and the rest of WWE, as well. This time, Survivor Series is for keeps and when it's all said and done, like fall into winter, WWE is certain to undergo an enduring metamorphosis.
With several matches already booked featuring WWE's top talents from NXT, RAW, and SmackDown, no one knows for certain what will happen next, but that won't stop thousands of online prognosticators from giving their best guesses.
With this year's build topping any other Survivor Series in recent memory, wrestling fans should be in store for something special, as WWE gears up for one of its big four pay-per-views. Could we see a new brand reign supreme? Will there be some shocking returns? How about title changes? We take a look at five scenarios that could forever alter WWE's landscape.
#5 Brock Lesnar drops the WWE Championship
Paul Heyman is a merciless and unscrupulous businessman that will do anything to benefit himself and his client. This is why he changed the stipulation in Brock Lesnar's Survivor Series title defense against Rey Mysterio to a No Holds Barred Match. Heyman believes that the new stipulation will only benefit his client, but his logic may be fatally flawed.
Rey Mysterio is known as one of the kindest men in pro wrestling history, a team player committed to playing by the rules. However, he showed a couple weeks ago on RAW that simply won't be the case when it comes to defending his family.
Lesnar suffered the consequences of his actions when Mysterio ruthlessly beat him with a pipe before WWE officials were forced to intervene. All gloves are off for Mysterio when it comes to his son Dominick and Lesnar crossed a dangerous line.
While Heyman believes that a No Holds Barred Match will benefit his client, he is likely playing right into Mysterio's hands. Mysterio comes into the bout overmatched and undersized. Dwarfed by Lesnar's superior size, Mysterio was at a serious disadvantage, but now that he is allowed to utilize any weapon at his disposal, Heyman may have just evened the odds in favour of The Ultimate Underdog.
There's also another noteworthy element to this bout. Brock Lesnar was drafted by SmackDown before mysteriously removing himself from the Blue Brand to join the RAW roster. There were no penalties and RAW gave up no compensation for the WWE Champion. Oddly enough, this strange move occurred just before Survivor Series.
What has been understated is that Lesnar's much talked about transition could simply have been made for one match only, his upcoming Survivor Series bout against Rey Mysterio. After dropping the WWE Championship to Mysterio, Lesnar could return to SmackDown to engage in the feud he was rumoured to participate in before leaving and that is against newly crowned Universal Champion, The Fiend.
