WWE Summerslam 2014: The Lumberjack Stipulation for Rollins-Ambrose match reeks of a Kane interference
After weeks, rather, months of impeccable build up Rollins and Ambrose are set to face each other at Summerslam and just when the situation paved the way for a stipulation to be added to this match, it had many ardent fans of both superstars excited, minimally, moderately or extremely about what is it going to be. And then came the spoilers of Smackdown and it was finally revealed that it’ll be a Lumberjack Match. Didn’t this spoiler just spoil the fun?
Finding the pros of this stipulation
It’ll be interesting to see if WWE can utilize this stipulation to not only further this feud but play it into the storyline. One of the possibilities is for Seth Rollins to be on the receiving end of the ire of the entire locker room. Why? Firstly, he’s from the Authority who week in and week out have made the entire roster stand on the ramp like a bunch of school children assembled for the Morning Prayer. They have made them the audience amongst the audience to show off their power and dominance over the company that all of them work for. This might be the opportunity to have the entire roster actually see what they fictionally want to see- One from the Authority get beat up. But this also paves the way for another thing.
Finding Kane
Does anybody have any idea what Kane is upto for SummerSlam. I don’t. Sure, he put he gave his mask away to Stephanie and we haven’t seen Kane since but it is still a possibility that he’ll be one of the Lumberjacks since he is still a part of the main roster. So, mostly I think he’ll either be there throughout and be a part of the Lumberjack in the match or arrive later on in the match. A former main eventer like Kane will be in the Lumberjack. He is not just a former main eventer, he has even played a pivotal part in this storyline and according to Ambrose he is fittingly called Rollins’ Uncle Kane.
It is because of Kane that the former architect of the Shield won the Money In The Bank contract. So it is hard to ignore the possibility the Kane might make his presence felt in this match too and what a stipulation that gives him an open ended chance.
Arguably, this stipulation has been probably made to allow Kane to help Rollins’ get what Ambrose really has in store for him.
Though there might be a road block. Actually, Kane might be the only person at ringside who supports Rollins. This situation is somewhat similar to a lumberjill match which involved AJ and Tamina was the only person who had her back but I think, Lee went on to win another pointless and irrelevant divas match.
It is said that “favours the brave” but in the WWE it totally favours the cowards. So this match definitely puts Rollins and Kane in the dock and with the odds against them if they try to cheat. But it seems Rollins has this match in the bag or rather briefcase.
The Aftermath
Another manipulation in the hands of the heel results in another match in the WWE and hence it seems Ambrose will get rid of Kane first and that will give the opportunity for another Rollins-Ambrose match for, wait for it, Survivor Series. This makes two out of the big four PPV’s.
I just hope that this feud does not get stale by that moment and it continues it’s stellat build that it has done so far. I, for one have repeatedly mentioned how a Reigns-Ambrose-Rollins main event for Wrestlemania is apt for the present and future of the company.
