The New Day: Analyzing a potential split

Always making sure...you ain't booty!

The New Day was officially formed in mid-2014, at a time when three careers had become stagnant. Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were all very talented, but seemed to have hit a wall, so to speak.

Each of the three were struggling to find some sort of identity, in an ever evolving world of professional wrestling where remaining relevant is the primary component to success.

That's when the magic we now know as The New Day stepped in.

The original idea was to use a babyface gospel type of gimmick. However, each member’s creativity eventually would eventually shine through and soon after their debut, it became obvious that these guys were headed for something special.

The New Day could've easily been a huge failure. Had the chemistry been even remotely off, this run could've essentially buried each members career. However, that wasn't the case. Big E, Kofi and Xavier all banded together and turned this simple idea into one of the greatest tag teams of the current era.

The New Day has revived the Freebird Rule and given the term legitimacy once again. Not only that, they have held the tag team titles over 320 days and in just a few short days, will claim the record for all-time longest reigning tag team champions, toppling a record set by Brian Kendrick and Paul London back in 2006.

Needless to say, life as a member of The New Day has been great, but it appears things might be changing, as all good things must eventually come to an end.

Recent run-ins with Bray Wyatt and his sheep-masked henchmen has led to some interesting developments. Until now, no one has been able to break their continuity, nor has anyone been able to sway the trio from their free-spirited message of positivity.

Unfortunately for New Day fans, The Wyatts may indeed be the kryptonite that ushers in an imminent split. Since his return from injury, Bray Wyatt has been hell bent on derailing the power of positivity.

Will The Wyatt Family succeed and take over as the top trio in professional wrestling? As of right now, that notion doesn’t seem too far from reality.

So, are we in fact witnessing the beginning of the end for The New Day? Or perhaps the recent actions by Xavier Woods has been a mere ploy to catch The Wyatts off guard to create a swerve situation, reminiscent of the Daniel Bryan angle?

Either way, we are certainly in store for some captivating storytelling.

In the event that the split is indeed fast approaching. What's next for Woods, Kingston and Big E? After so much success, can they stand alone once again and achieve the same type of success as singles competitors ?

Let's take a quick look at each of the three moving forward, if there is a split just up ahead.
