The Rock may have subtly confirmed who he is going after when he returns to WWE; Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes?
The WWE Universe was expecting The Rock to show up at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024. But The Final Boss did not appear at the event. He last appeared on the company's programming at this year's Bad Blood pay-per-view.
The Rock shocked the world with his blockbuster return to WWE at the Atlanta-based event earlier this year after being absent for several months. He showed up after Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes’ victory over The Bloodline. Upon his arrival, he had an intense staredown with Reigns, Rhodes, and Jimmy Uso.
Before exiting, Rocky made a slit-throat gesture and counted to three, which indicated that he would be part of a major storyline heading into the WrestleMania 41 season.
The Rock’s hint about his potential WrestleMania 41 opponent
Many fans are wondering who among Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes is on The Rock's radar since he has unfinished business with both superstars. The Final Boss has dropped a subtle hint about who he is going to target before WrestleMania 41.
Rocky didn't show up for the Bloodline WarGames match, which marked an important chapter in the long-running saga. But he appeared at Bad Blood 2024, which featured Cody Rhodes. This might be a strong hint that The Final Boss might have his sights set on The American Nightmare. Hence, viewers could get a singles match between the two megastars at WrestleMania 41.
The Rock never forgets his promise
Cody Rhodes secured a historic win against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, becoming the first member of his legendary family to hold the WWE Championship.
On the RAW after WrestleMania XL, Rocky interrupted Rhodes’ first segment as champion and informed fans he was leaving for a while before turning his attention to The American Nightmare. He congratulated Rhodes and told him that he would come after him soon.
The Final Boss would take revenge for his insult
Earlier this year, The Rock made a shocking return and was all set to face Roman Reigns in a dream match. Their bout was almost confirmed before the WWE Universe pushed for Cody Rhodes to retain his spot in the main event of WrestleMania XL. For those unaware, Rhodes won the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble and straightaway expressed his desire to face Roman Reigns at 'Mania.
In response to the backlash from viewers, the Stamford-based promotion booked The Great One to join forces with Roman Reigns instead of allowing him to challenge his cousin for the gold.
Cody Rhodes replacing him would not have sat well with Rocky. This seemingly forced him to turn heel, and he could now return to avenge his insult. The Final Boss could ultimately come back and challenge Rhodes for his title at WrestleMania 41.
