The Rock's return match, Massive WrestleMania rematch? - 4 matches for Cody Rhodes on WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

WWE made a major announcement recently. After almost two decades, the classic television show Saturday Night's Main Event will be making a comeback and fans couldn't be more excited.

The show first launched in 1980 and it was brought back for a brief run in the 2000s. Now, decades after first premiering, the sports entertainment juggernaut will host a new edition of the program on December 14, 2024.

Right now, there isn't much known about the two-hour-long special outside of the fact that it will take place at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York. Cody Rhodes is advertised for the program, meaning he will likely appear.

In what fashion The American Nightmare may appear is not known yet, but it can be fun to speculate. This article will take a look at four matches Cody could have at the big televised event in December, which could even be against The Rock.

Below are four matches for Cody Rhodes on WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.

#4 Kevin Owens could finally turn heel and fight Cody

Kevin Owens is a beloved WWE star currently on the SmackDown brand. Throughout his tenure with the company, Owens has won the Universal Title, tag team gold, the Intercontinental Title, and the United States Championship.

The Prizefighter and Cody Rhodes recently had a storyline that seemingly culminated at WWE Bash in Berlin. Many believed that Owens would turn heel and betray Cody, but it never happened.

There is a chance that it still takes place, however, and it could lead to the two having a clash at Saturday Night's Main Event. A heel Kevin Owens battling The American Nightmare would be exciting. While their last match was great, this could be even better.

#3 Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu would be fantastic

The Bloodline has been the most dominant force in WWE for years now. While the group was initially led by Roman Reigns, the current iteration features Solo Sikoa as the leader. He is joined by Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu.

While all four members have their strengths and weaknesses, many believe that Jacob Fatu is the best of the bunch. Even Cody Rhodes himself indicated that The Samoan Werewolf deserved an Undisputed WWE Title match over Solo Sikoa.

If Cody truly believes that, there is a chance he could make it happen. The American Nightmare and The Samoan Werewolf could end up clashing at Saturday Night's Main Event. This would be an epic bout and a title change could end up taking place.

#2 Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes one more time is a can't-miss big-time match

Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship by defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. This was an epic rematch following their previous WrestleMania main event just one year prior when Cody failed to defeat The Tribal Chief.

That means Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are tied in major headline matches. That likely doesn't sit well with either WWE star and many believe that a rematch is inevitable, potentially even at WrestleMania 41.

Instead of their rematch happening there, it could instead take place at Saturday Night's Main Event. This could either allow Cody to win and move on to a major WrestleMania program or see Roman reclaim his gold and set up a dream match against the next man featured in this article.

#1 The Rock promised to return for Cody Rhodes

The Rock is one of the most beloved pro wrestlers of all time. He is a multi-time WrestleMania main eventer. Outside of WWE, The Rock has also become one of the biggest movie stars in modern history.

The People's Champion was featured heavily on the Road To WrestleMania XL. He ended up competing in a tag team match at WWE WrestleMania Night One and then interfered in the main event of 'Mania Sunday. From there, he made one last appearance on the RAW after WrestleMania.

On the show, The Final Boss confronted Cody Rhodes and made it clear he would be back and that he was coming for Rhodes and the world title. The two will inevitably have a major singles match and it could happen on Saturday Night's Main Event. This would likely lead to a massive television rating and allow The Rock to win the gold and go on to face Roman Reigns.
