This week in WWE history: One of the worst matches ever and one of the best of all time (September 30-October 6)

WWE had a massive night this past Saturday. The Sports Entertainment juggernaut hosted the Bad Blood PLE, which aired live from Atlanta. The show featured big-time celebrities and some of the most notable stars in wrestling.

The Georgia event also featured the returns of Jimmy Uso, Raquel Rodriguez, and The Rock.

Fans are very intrigued about the upcoming events on RAW and SmackDown, but some also prefer to look at the past and re-live history as opposed to following the modern product.

Those fans are lucky, as Sportskeeda offers a weekly look back at some of the biggest matches, moments, and events from the company's past. This week's list will take a deep dive into select Hell in a Cell Matches from 1997 to 2019.

Below are four major matches, moments, and events from this week in WWE's history:

#4. Kane and The Undertaker fought inside Hell in a Cell on October 3, 2010

The first entry on this list is from the second-ever Hell in a Cell Premium Live Event. This show took place on October 3, 2010. The event was held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2010 featured six matches in total on the main card. Additionally, two of the six bouts took place inside the deadly cell. The first saw Randy Orton and Sheamus go one-on-one inside the Devil's Playground.

The main event saw the World Heavyweight Championship on the line as The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) locked horns inside the hellish structure. However, the match proved to be underwhelming. The ending was completely unexpected. Paul Bearer shockingly turned on The Deadman, allowing The Big Red Machine to pick up the victory.

#3. The Undertaker and CM Punk clashed inside Hell in a Cell on October 4, 2009

The next entry on this list happened at the inaugural WWE Hell in a Cell PLE. The show took place on October 4, 2009, and 12,000 fans were in attendance for an event featuring an astounding three Hell in a Cell Matches. Needless to say, that is overkill.

The event emanated from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The main event saw D-Generation X's Shawn Michaels and Triple H take on the up-and-coming Legacy stars Ted Dibiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes, but that wasn't the most controversial match of the night.

The event also saw The Undertaker and CM Punk clash for the World Heavyweight Championship inside The Devil's Playground. Ahead of the encounter, the WWE Universe felt that the match would solidify The Second City Saint as a top star in the company.

However, The Voice of The Voiceless lost the match and his title in just over 10 minutes. It was a big letdown, even though the bout was thrilling.

#2. The first-ever Hell in a Cell Match took place at In Your House: Badd Blood on October 5, 1997

One of the greatest bouts of all time took place at WWE In Your House: Badd Blood. The event was held on October 5th, 1997, and it took place at the Kiel Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

WWE fans witnessed the likes of Bret Hart, Vader, Owen Hart, and Max Mini in action, but it was the main event, featuring The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels in the inaugural Hell in a Cell Match, that stole the show.

This match is widely considered to be one of the best of all time. The Phenom and The Heartbreak Kid delivered brilliant performances inside the hellish structure. The encounter ended with Kane debuting and destroying The Deadman, paving the way for HBK to stand tall.

#1. The Fiend and Seth Rollins had one of the worst matches ever at WWE Hell in a Cell on October 6, 2019

The final entry on this list is from another Hell in a Cell PLE. This one occurred on October 6, 2019. The event emanated from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, with around 10,000 fans in attendance.

The Fiend (Bray Wyatt) and Seth Rollins collided inside the deadly cell for the latter's Universal Championship. From awkward red lighting to The Fiend's gimmick not allowing him to sell, and a horrible climax with referee stoppage, this match was just bad from start to finish. The two wrestled for 17 minutes, and The Fiend destroyed Seth post-match, which irked fans about the disastrous booking.
