TLC 2013 - AJ, Natalya deliver match of the Night
As has been WWE’s tradition for the past 2 years, it tends to bring non fictional entities into its fictional world.
The arrival of Total Divas, which in itself is a creative reality, has in many ways confused the state of storylines in the divas division. And when AJ Lee mentioned that the division has been quite a joke, she said what fans have been feeling for more than two years now.
What she said during the TLC pay per view just hours ago, shows that she can be really good on the mic when given the right material. The least terrific promo she did succeed a very typical divas match in the WWE in recent times. But at TLC her promo was followed by an even more terrific match against the very underutilized Natalya.
Natalya has been on fire recently. She has been allowed to showcase most, if not all, of her skills in her recent matches. The one against paige in NXT stands out the most. It showed that Paige deserves to be in the main roster and it showed that Natalya has worthy opponents to showcase her skills with. That match was amazing and expectedly, Paige took the win.
At TLC too, expectedly, AJ Lee took the win, but not before making the fans believe again in the divas division. This is the best match on any PPV that the WWE has hosted in the past 2 years.
Sure, Beth Phoenix against Tamina at Elimination Chamber stands out and so does AJ’s and Kaitlyn match. But this one was far better.
What was even awesome was Natalya and Tamina’s constant staredown. These two have faced each other before. Both of them have famous fathers. But their past matches were not allowed to get its deserved time. But this time, the WWE seems to be focusing on the divas division a bit more than I had expected. This sure indicated towards a Tamina and Natalya face off, which could be very, very interesting.
So even though the fatal four tag match was good, it was quite underwhelming to have two face teams in the end fight each other. The Real Americans were ousted before. The divas match was truly good, and it surely exceeded expectations. This did not have a compelling storyline, well, but they did put on quite a show.
In my humble opinion, this was the match of the night.
