TNA News: Cody Rhodes's Bound for Glory debut announced

This will be the first time that Rhodes will compete in TNA Wrestling

Being the son of the wrestling legend, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Cody had a huge chip on his shoulder coming into the WWE. And he delivered. Be it with the Randy Orton led stable Legacy or the numerous gimmicks that WWE tossed his way, Cody Rhodes was a success.

There were rumors of TNA trying to sign Rhodes, after his wife Brandi signed with the company as a full-time wrestler in the Knockouts division. TNA confirmed the news in the form of a pretaped video package where Cody Rhodes made his TNA Impact Wrestling debut.

Cody said that his original debut would be on the TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view on 2 October.

Cody Rhodes looks suave in the video. He talks about putting his past behind him and calling the shots regarding his future. You can watch it here:

Cody’s run in WWE began by partnering with Hardcore Holly, with whom he won the tag team titles. He then turned on Holly and aligned himself with the Legacy faction, along with multiple-time WWE Champion Randy Orton and Ted Dibiase Jr. After the Legacy broke up, Cody was propelled as a singles superstar as the ‘Dashing Cody Rhodes’.

Rhodes went on to win important matches against Rey Mysterio and even won the Intercontinental Championship a few months later. He would retain the title for eight months before losing it to Big Show at WrestleMania XXVIII.

He teamed with another talented worker, Damien Sandow to form the Team Rhodes Scholars. This team didn’t last long when he split with Sandow after the tension following the Money in the Bank match of that year. He then won the tag team championships with his brother Goldust in an emotional match that had Dusty celebrating with his sons.

After the initial success with Goldust, the team went on a losing streak. It was a time for a revamp and Cody returned as Stardust. He could never reach his full potential with this gimmick due to bad booking decisions. He asked for a release from the company earlier this year, to sum up a career of ‘what if’s’.
