Top 5 wrestlers who need to tweak their characters
Professional wrestling is a cut-throat business. In order to stay active, a wrestler needs to re-invent his character from time-to-time. Sometimes, they need to undergo a full-fledged change in their gimmick, while other times, all they need is a minor tweak.
Wrestlers thrive on audience’s attention span. But what happens if the wrestler is unable to grab their attention in the first place. In this article, we will discuss five such wrestlers, who, despite being talented inside the ring, are unable to connect with the audience in their current roles and desperately need a tweak in their characters.
Alberto Del Rio
We begin with the World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio. The Mexican Aristocrat possesses one of the most boring personalities outside the ring. His gimmick does not help him either.
Undoubtedly, he is incredible in the ring. He can work a perfect match even if he called upon in the middle of the night. He does a great job of selling his opponents, and lets his actions do the talking.
However, the problem begins when he picks up the microphone. Firstly, that accent of his is not helping him get over with the fans, no matter how hard he tries. Secondly, the man lacks charisma. Fine, he is boastful and arrogant as a heel champion should be, and for a change, he backs that up in the ring, but, is that enough to make the cut?
WWE need to make a major change in his character. Maybe, they should make his character lose all his wealth, or, reveal that he is an illegal immigrant (in kayfabe), and instantly involve him in a storyline with The Real Americans.
The possibilities are endless, but the question is, will WWE take the leap of faith?
