Top RAW News & Rumors: Veteran superstar has been let go by WWE, Saddening update regarding former champion's future, Sheamus breaks silence
Welcome to another edition of the top RAW backstage rumors and news stories that could have a major impact on the red brand's future. In today's edition, we will look at some splendid stories revolving around superstars like former WWE Champion Sheamus, Asuka, and Dijak.
The Empress of Tomorrow has been absent from Monday Night RAW ever since she took a sabbatical to heal her knee injury. However, there is some bad news in that regard. Apart from that, we will also take a look at what Sheamus had to say after failing to qualify for the Money in the Bank match on RAW this week.
#1. Sheamus breaks silence following his loss on RAW
The Celtic Warrior Sheamus faced Drew McIntyre and Ilja Dragunov in a match to qualify for the MITB ladder match. However, it was McIntyre who walked out victorious. Despite the loss, the former WWE Champion's spirits were not dampened as he posted a hilarious picture on his Instagram after RAW.
Sheamus was embroiled in a bitter feud with Ludwig Kaiser on the red brand for the past few weeks. However, with Kaiser being out with an injury, it remains to see what path the Irish Fella will take. There is a possibility that he would go after the winner of Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker to complete his quest of becoming a grand slam champion by winning the Intercontinental Championship.
#2. Unfortunate update on Asuka's injury
Former RAW Women's Champion Asuka has been out of action since May this year owing to a knee injury. It had been reported that The Empress of Tomorrow had suffered an injury during the Backlash Premium Liv Event and had been pulled from live events for the rest of the month.
Despite being injured in March 2024, she returned to action after a few weeks, even though she wasn't healed. But the issue continued to bother her and she had to take a sabbatical. The former champion revealed that she had undergone knee surgery due to the injury. Fightful Select has reported that the veteran is not expected to make her in-ring return this year.
#1. Dijak has been let go by WWE
As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE chose not to renew Dijak's contract and let him go because he had a main-roster contract that wasn't being utilized. Despite being drafted to RAW, Dijak mostly performed on Speed to Main Event. The veteran's exit from the company came as a shock to many as he was one of the most prominent names in NXT before being called up.
Dijak has become a free agent and has already begun making appearances for independent promotions. It was also reported that he was present backstage at AEW's Forbidden Door PPV. The 37-year-old is considered charismatic and a good in-ring worker and should have no trouble landing on his feet after being let go by WWE.
