Top RAW News: Veteran star done with WWE and has decided not to return, Former champion got concussed during match with Becky Lynch, Asuka tease
Welcome to another edition of the top RAW backstage news stories that could significantly impact the brand's future. In today's edition, we will look at some intriguing topics revolving around superstars like former WWE Women's Champion Becky Lynch, Asuka and Trish Stratus.
WWE RAW has been facing a shortage in the women's division as two of the biggest names, Becky Lynch and Asuka, have been missing from action. While Lynch has not re-signed with WWE and is on a sabbatical, Asuka is out with an injury. Apart from that, we will also take a look at a top star not returning.
1) RAW star Asuka shares a potential tease
Asuka shared a video on Instagram today with Kairi Sane, both wearing Kabuki Warriors t-shirts. This could hint at a possible separation from Damage CTRL, as the former Women's Tag Team Champions appear to be promoting themselves over the group. The faction currently also includes Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai.
RAW Superstar Asuka recently made her return at a live event in Japan. However, she is not yet fit to make her in-ring return. Her last match was at Backlash 2024, it is believed that she had sustained a knee injury two months prior and had continued to compete despite being injured. Could Damage CTRL be on the verge of splitting when Asuka finally returns?
2) Trish Stratus suffered a concussion during a match with Becky Lynch
The heated feud between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus culminated in a Steel Cage match at the Payback Premium Live Event last year. During her entrance, Stratus confronted a fan at ringside who was shouting that she would lose. The clip quickly went viral on social media. However, she told Unlikely that she didn't remember the incident:
"Afterwards, my team was like, 'That moment with the fan is going viral.' 'What moment?' 'Before you went in, when you talked to the fan.' 'I have zero recollection of that.' I was concussed. I don't think anybody knows that, but I was concussed after that cage match,'' said Stratus
The former Women's Champion recently returned to the company at Money in the Bank as the host of the show. However, her feud against Becky Lynch on RAW last year is considered some of her best work after returning to the company.
3) MVP reveals that he is done with WWE and won't return
After appearing at Bloodsport, MVP revealed that his contract with WWE was expiring. The former US Champion also said he would not return to the company. He added that since he wasn't ready to retire yet, there were a few things he wanted to accomplish before hanging up his boots for good, including the challenge.
"My contract with the company who I won't mention right now is about to expire, and I'm not going back Josh. I'm not ready to retire yet. There's a few things I got to do before I hang them up for good. Josh Barnett would you fight me in Bloodsport?"
The veteran star had been gone from the WWE for years before he returned during the ''Covid Era''. He was a major part of RAW as the manager of Bobby Lashley and The Hurt Business. His last major feud was against Brock Lesnar as the manager of Omos on RAW. He has not been used much since WrestleMania 39.
