Top SmackDown News & Rumors: Top star has been injured and will be out of action, Details on potential Bloodline member's debut, Cody Rhodes' comments
A hearty welcome to another edition of the top SmackDown backstage rumors and news stories that could have a major impact on the blue brand in the future. In today's edition, we will examine some interesting stories revolving around superstars such as the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Cameron Hayes, and Jacob Fatu.
With Tama Tonga's debut and the addition to The Bloodline, there is a lot of speculation regarding former MLW World Champion Jacon Fatu also joining The Bloodline under Solo Sikoa. Initially, it was rumored that he would show up on SmackDown this week. However, plans have seemingly changed.
#1. Backstage details regarding Jacob Fatu's SmackDown debut
Jacob Fatu is the son of former WWE Superstar Tonga Kid and the nephew of Rikishi and Umaga. He allegedly signed with WWE during the WrestleMania XL weekend. Some fans expected him to show up at the Grandest Stage of Them All to help Roman Reigns, but that did not happen. He is now expected to join Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga in the 'new' Bloodline.
''After previously reporting that Jacob Fatu could debut for WWE as soon as this week, PW Insider Elite is now hearing Fatu won’t be at this Friday’s television taping. He is signed and there are plans in place for him, but with Bloodline creative laid out “meticulously” there’s no rush.'' [H/T: Cagesideseats]
As per PWInsider, the reason why Fatu did not appear on this week's SmackDown is because the higher-ups in WWE are in no rush to have him debut. They further stated that the company has big plans for him, and everything related to The Bloodline saga has been laid out meticulously.
#2. Cody Rhodes comments on his match against Carmelo Hayes
The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has been a fixture on RAW ever since he returned to the company at WrestleMania 38. However, after defeating Roman Reigns and becoming the WWE Champion, he is now a part of the SmackDown brand. Rhodes had his first match as the WWE Champion against Carmelo Hayes this week, and sent a message after the show:
"First match, first day on the job. NEXT #SmackDown," Cody Rhodes shared.
A scary spot during the match led fans to believe that Rhodes might have suffered an injury. However, when a fan asked him if he was okay on social media, the former Tag Team Champion responded by liking the comment, indicating that he was okay.
#3. Jimmy Uso has suffered an 'undisclosed' injury and is set to be out of action
Former Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso was written off television after being brutally attacked by his brother Solo Sikoa and Tama Tongo on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 40. However, it has been reported by Fightful Select that Uso is legitimately injured, which is why he will not be a part of the Draft.
The report also stated that there is no timeline for his return as of now. Jimmy has been having a string of bad luck lately. First, he lost to his twin brother Jey Uso at WrestleMania 40 in a match that has been panned by fans and critics. Then, he got kicked out of The Bloodline by Solo Sikoa, and his future remains uncertain.
