Top SmackDown Superstar to make RAW return and dethrone Gunther on WWE's Netflix debut? Chances explored
Gunther will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at the Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event on November 30, 2024. This will be their rematch from WWE SummerSlam 2024, where The Ring General dethroned The Archer of Infamy.
If the Austrian star retains his title, it appears that the path will be even more challenging for him. The Imperium leader has been linked to a feud with CM Punk, who is expected to return to RAW after nearly two months off. However, the Best in the World might not be the only potential opponent for The Ring General. The reason is that Roman Reigns is expected to return to the red brand for the first time in five years.
Since 2019, The Original Tribal Chief has been a part of SmackDown and is undoubtedly the face of the blue brand. Still, with RAW's move to Netflix, the global streaming platform would want Roman to join the red brand.
Should this happen, the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion could go after Gunther, get a title shot on RAW's Netflix premiere, and dethrone The Ring General.
It remains to be seen the storylines that would shape up if the aforementioned narrative comes to fruition, but Netflix sees Reigns as the face of RAW in the new era. It could also lead The Head of the Table to have heated feuds with both CM Punk and Seth Rollins in early 2025.
Gunther says he is at his best ahead of title match with Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024
Gunther took a shot at Damian Priest ahead of their title match at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024. The Ring General said he was not affected by what The Archer of Infamy said on RAW, where the latter told the former that his loss against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel 2024 has affected him.
While speaking on the Johnjay & Rich Show, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion said that he was at his best heading into his title match against Priest.
"I don’t know if he can relate because he loses a little bit more than I do. I never really lose. When I lose, sometimes it can be a struggle. It happens to the best, obviously. That’s my struggle and I have to figure it out. If he wants to use that against me, I don’t blame him. If I’m at my best, he can’t lace my boots," Gunther said. [H/T Yahoo Sports]
It remains to be seen what plans WWE has for this match and whether fans will see Finn Balor interfere in the bout and cost Damian again as he did at SummerSlam 2024.
