Top WWE superstar to pay tribute to John Cena with a special weekly segment on Raw? Exploring the possibility

John Cena is a superstar that many would consider a revolutionary figure in WWE. He single-handedly held the company on his shoulders for years, and now it's finally time to say goodbye to him. Looking over his career, one can pinpoint several factors as keys to his success. And, with that in mind, a WWE superstar could pay tribute to The Leader of the Cenation with a special weekly segment on RAW.

While John Cena may be noted as a 16-time world champion and an all-time great, one of his more underrated accomplishments was during his tenure as United States Champion. As "The Champ", Cena introduced what many now know as The U.S. Open Challenge. It was a weekly segment, one where Cena gave superstars a chance to challenge him for the title, and a way to prop up new up-and-coming talent. With Cena now retiring, WWE superstar Sami Zayn, the current Intercontinental Champion, could pay tribute to the legend with an open challenge of his own.

Sami Zayn has done an incredible job with the Intercontinental title. He has been a fair champion, who has given anybody and everybody a shot at the title. With that in mind, The Underdog from the Underground could start an open challenge of his own. The I.C. Open Challenge would be a great way to pay tribute to John Cena, who coincidentally introduced Zayn to the main roster through the U.S. Open Challenge way back in 2015.

It would be great to see Zayn pay homage to Cena, by replicating his idea. But, this is all just mere speculation, and there is no telling if he will even implement such a challenge.

WWE superstar who has faced John Cena 65 times wants to be on his retirement tour

As everybody knows by now, John Cena will be embarking on his retirement tour in 2025. It's expected to last almost an entire year, where The Leader of the Cenation will likely appear on every major PLE. With that in mind, several superstars both current and retired have offered their services, as they wish to pay homage to the legend that is John Felix Anthony Cena. And, this includes a superstar who has faced Cena one-on-one a whopping 65 times.

The superstar in question is none other than The Miz. The Awesome One recently lost the World Tag Team Championship, but he seems to be looking toward the future. In an interview with CBS Sports, Miz expressed interest in being involved in Cena's retirement tour, admitting that it was a selfish request, claiming it's always fun stepping into the ring with him.

As of now, there are no details regarding who will face Cena on the retirement tour. But, the WWE would be remiss not to include The Miz in it. After all, both he and Cena have had some iconic matches, all of which are a part of their incredible on-screen rivalry.
