Triple H to announce the return of an iconic WWE event after 16 years for this December? Exploring the possibility

Since taking over as head of WWE creative, Triple H has been praised for many of the changes that he has made both in and out of the ring. One of those has been that of bringing back fan favorite Premium Live Events such as Bad Blood and King Of The Ring.

Now, it seems as though he is ready to bring back another special WWE show, Saturday Night's Main Event.

According to a recent report from WrestleVotes, WWE is looking at putting on a show on a 'Saturday Night in December', with the event set to be a 'primetime special on NBC'.

Saturday Night's Main Event was a staple for many wrestling fans in the mid-1980s before it started to fade away in the early 90s. The most recent version of the event took place in July 2008, which saw Edge and Jeffy Hardy face off in the main event of the show.

Triple H on the importance of international Premium Live Events

As well as bringing back classic PLEs, Triple H has also looked to expand WWE's global reach by putting on big shows all over the world.

With rowdy fans at events like Backlash in Puerto Rico in 2023 and France this year, Clash at the Castle in Scotland, Elimination Chamber in Australia, Money In The Bank in London, and most recently Bash In Berlin all being key parts of those shows.

Speaking at the Clash at the Castle post-show press conference in June, Triple H shared why it is so important to have shows take place all over the world.

"I’ve always had an interest in trying to make WWE and wrestling in general bigger globally. To encourage … to me, when a kid sits at home on a day like today and he watches Drew McIntyre or she watches Alba and Isla or Piper Niven or anybody like that, and they say, ‘Wow, they’re from here like me, they’re just like me. If I work that hard and go after my dream, I can do it too.'"

The crowd reactions at these various shows have seemingly put WWE on an even bigger level than the company was before.
