Triple H announces a new WWE championship; what is it?

Triple H had a major announcement prior to WWE SmackDown tonight. The Game took to the X platform and revealed a new title belt was on the way. This upcoming belt is the WWE Speed Women's Championship.

For those unaware, Speed is a program exclusively on X. The show airs every Wednesday and occasionally on Friday, which is dubbed "Championship Friday." Each episode of Speed is short, typically under five minutes, and features just one match.

Upon the launch of the show earlier this year, Triple H and company crowned the first-ever Speed Champion. Now, according to The Game, the first-ever Speed Women's Champion will be decided in the Speed Women's Championship Tournament which begins on September 4.

Ricochet was the first man to win the Speed Championship prior to his exit from WWE. The incredible high flyer lost the title to Andrade, who has been the champion ever since. El Idolo remains on SmackDown at the same time.

It hasn't yet been revealed who Triple H intends to feature in the Speed Women's Championship Tournament. Underutilized talents such as Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox, and Kiana James would all fit the criteria, but nobody has officially been announced quite yet. Additionally, NXT stars could be in the mix alongside names from RAW and SmackDown.

Other titles for the women's division are rumored to be debuting soon in WWE

The introduction of the WWE Speed Women's Championship should bring more opportunity to the female stars in the company. If rumors are to be believed, however, more titles may be on the way for the company's women's division.

According to multiple reports, the Sports Entertainment juggernaut has been considering or is outright planning the introduction of two more belts. One belt will be for Monday Night RAW and the other will be on Friday Night SmackDown.

The two titles rumored include the Women's United States Championship and the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Presumably, the United States Title will be on SmackDown just like the men's version of the belt and the same will be true of the Intercontinental Championship.

These titles being added make a lot of sense. WWE has continued to elevate the game with their women's division. NXT recently introduced the Women's North American Championship, which seemed to be a trial run in terms of a mid-card title for female stars.

With all of the success Kelani Jordan has had on the white and gold brand, three more belts potentially arriving makes sense. These three new belts could, in theory, mean a lot more opportunity for the female superstars.
