Triple H to reignite Cody Rhodes' iconic rivalry with a WWE legend for Bad Blood PLE? Exploring potential swerve
Cody Rhodes has had several feuds and rivalries in WWE that will go down in history as some of the greatest. Among those, he faced numerous veterans and icons who have ruled the Stamford-based promotion for decades. With Bad Blood a few weeks away, Triple H could reopen the chapter of one of those iconic rivalries that Rhodes had with a WWE legend.
The name in question is Shinsuke Nakamura. His infamous rivalry with The American Nightmare that spanned from Dec 2023 to Feb 2024 on RAW transcended the realm of animosity and delivered jaw-dropping things. The feud between the two superstars had rich storytelling and culminated in a trilogy of matches on the red brand.
WWE could reopen this rivalry on SmackDown now that Nakamura is part of the blue brand. Bad Blood is a PLE themed around bitter rivalries and deep-rooted animosity, which makes it the perfect stage for the two rivals to reignite their hostility. Moreover, it could pave the way for The King of Strong Style's WWE return, as he has now been seen for a while.
However, the prospect of Triple H running this feud for Bad Blood is relatively low, as Cody Rhodes seems to have a huge roadblock in his path. Solo Sikoa has his eyes set on the Undisputed WWE Championship and will likely be the next challenger for The American Nightmare. Moreover, Kevin Owens' has unfinished business with Rhodes after his defeat at Bash in Berlin.
Hence, Shinsuke Nakamura returning and heralding a feud with Cody Rhodes at this point seems implausible. However, a feud between the two down the line could be likely.
Cody Rhodes' potential opponent for Bad Blood
Bad Blood is set to be WWE's next premium live event, and there have been questions about who Cody Rhodes would face at the spectacle. Solo Sikoa is apparently the next in line to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, this match may not take place at the upcoming PLE.
There is a good possibility that Rhodes vs. Sikoa may happen next week at the 'Season Premiere' of SmackDown. Just as The American Nightmare wraps up his program with The Bloodline leader next week, he could end up suffering a treacherous betrayal at the hands of Kevin Owens.
In a stunning turn of events, The Prizefighter could turn heel and unleash his dark side against the Undisputed WWE Champion. With a more vicious persona and hungrier intent, Owens could challenge Cody Rhodes for the coveted title at WWE Bad Blood, leading to a second match between them.
Although this is just speculation at this point, the prospect of Owens vs. Rhodes happening at the upcoming PLE is quite good.
