Triple H, take note! 5 WWE SmackDown stars who urgently need a push
We are all set for this week's edition of WWE SmackDown. The company has announced promising matches and segments for tonight's show in Louisville, Kentucky. Interestingly, a few of them will feature some superstars who arguably deserve a better push.
The promotion has done well revamping the storylines at the display, putting more effort into building the overall roster instead of solely focusing on title feuds. Since Triple H took over the creative control, each superstar's gradual progress has made their entry into the championship picture seem authentic.
While The Game has done a brilliant job building the top babyfaces and heels today, a few need his immediate attention. Here, we look at five such WWE SmackDown stars urgently needing a push. So, without further ado, let's begin.
#1. & #2. The Street Profits target The Bloodline
The Street Profits have strangely lost momentum as one of the most exciting tag teams on the main roster. Their recent alliance with Bobby Lashley has been impressive, but not much has unfolded with the former WWE Tag Team Champions in The All Mighty's injury-driven absence. Last week, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins locked horns with The Bloodline's Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, where they suffered defeat.
Things can still work out if WWE decides to wage a full-blown war, especially if Lashley returns on SmackDown to lead his stable. This feud would benefit The Street Profits and the new members of The Bloodline, allowing them to showcase their prowess in all its glory. Ford and Dawkins could make a massive statement by crashing the Samoan faction's big moment planned for tonight's show.
#3. Apollo Crews gets his redemption on WWE SmackDown
Apollo Crews is among the several WWE Superstars who are overlooked. He competed on SmackDown last week when he faced Andrade and delivered an impressive showing despite suffering defeat. It is worth noting that it was Legado del Fantasma's Angel whose uninvited interference compromised Crews' position in the match.
The creative team made the right decision by protecting the former United States Champion in loss. We also saw him attack Angel in the locker room backstage, and the two are now set to lock horns on the Friday Night Show this week. This is the right opportunity to push Apollo Crews and rope him in fascinating rivalries to strengthen his position on the blue brand and ultimately push him into the title picture.
#4. & #5. #DIY challenge for the World Tag Team Championship on SmackDown
It has been long since Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa arrived on the main roster. They moved to SmackDown from Monday Night RAW as part of the 2024 WWE Draft, where they were expected to take the tag team division by storm. After all, both superstars thrived under Triple H during their storied run on NXT.
Starting tonight, The Game could recreate his magic with #DIY on the blue brand. Last week, Ciampa defeated one-half of the reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions, Austin Theory, in a singles match. Johnny Gargano will take on Grayson Waller, and a potential victory could earn his team a shot at the championship.
They must challenge Austin Theory and Grayson Waller for the tag team gold, preferably at Clash at the Castle. A title change would not only set up #DIY for a promising championship reign on SmackDown. Additionally, their brief but intense feud would help facilitate the split between Theory and Waller, which has been teased regularly over the last few weeks with an entertaining series of events.
