Triple H to do the unthinkable with Motor City Machine Guns following WWE SmackDown? Potential shocker explored
The Motor City Machine Guns did the unimaginable last night. Immediately after taking down #DIY and becoming the number one contenders, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley challenged The Bloodline's Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Despite the odds stacked against them and fatigue certainly setting in, they managed to defeat the Tongan brothers and become champions. Now, Triple H might take things one step further and do something even more unthinkable with them.
Ever since they made their debut last week, the Motor City Machine Guns have been hyped up as if they were the saviors of the tag team division. Triple H not only had their good friend Corey Graves singing their praises, but Michael Cole as well. Furthermore, their accolades across the pro wrestling industry were highlighted, something you don't see very often. With that in mind, and considering the importance they've been given, the MCMG may just pull off something we haven't seen in 15 years and unify the tag team titles.
As things stand, there are three separate tag team titles in the men's division. We have the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown, the World Tag Team Title on RAW, and the NXT Tag Team Title on the developmental brand. Yes, the titles on the main roster have been unified before, but never all three. The last time all tag team gold in WWE was unified was back in 2009. Notably, only two tag titles were in existence at the time.
Given how things are currently looking, The Game may choose to unite all three titles, and the Motor City Machine Guns could be the ones to do it. It certainly would be amazing to see Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin challenge and hold all the belts at one point. But at this point, this is nothing more than speculation.
The Motor City Machine Guns have promised to prove they're the greatest of all time
There is no denying that the Motor City Machine Guns made history last night. Just one week after they made their debut, Sabin and Shelley became WWE Tag Team Champions. They're certainly on the fast track to success, and they agree. Following SmackDown, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin opened up about their victory.
The duo claimed they came to WWE to prove that they're one of the greatest of all time, and they did just that. But it doesn't end there for them; they believe they still have a lot more to prove to the WWE Universe. In their minds, their debut, and their title victory—all of it is now behind them, and now their goal is to hold onto the WWE Tag Team Title and cement themselves as the tag team GOATs.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Detroit natives. The expectations are certainly high now. But if there is any duo that can live up to them, it's Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.
