WWE Rumours: Triple H's early return due to injury status of Finn Balor
Triple H had last been seen at Wrestlemania 32, where he was defeated for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. That was until this past Monday on Raw, when the Cerebral Assasin showed up and pedigreed Roman Reigns, giving Rollins the chance to pin him.
Then, it appeared that The Game was going to do the same to Kevin Owens until he turned the tables and pedigreed Seth Rollins, allowing Kevin Owens to pin Rollins and subsequently become the new WWE Universal Champion.
This came as a major surprise, but not in a bad way. Things have taken a massive turn in terms of creative plans. Roman Reigns was supposed to finally get a nice, long title reign after his coronation at Wrestlemania, but the failing of the Wellness Policy made him drop the title and changed his position on the card as well.
His push was given to Finn Balor, who won the newly introduced WWE Universal Championship. Unfortunately, The Demon King had to drop the title the next night on Raw due to a shoulder injury obtained in his Summerslam match with Seth Rollins.
This caused the second major turmoil in creative plans, since Balor was supposed to feud with Owens, and also Jericho in the subsequent two months, and was most likely going to hold the title for a while.
Kevin Owens then became the beneficiary of Balor’s injury. However, as mentioned before, it came in rather surprising manner.
It was said that while there were always plans to bring The Game back onto WWE television, but according to Cageside Seats, Triple H was not scheduled to return this soon. The plans to bring him in sped up after Balor’s injury.
Now, from the looks of it, Triple H will be guiding his new apprentice, The Prize Fighter, to a feud with a now babyface Seth Rollins. It is being said that there are also plans for a Triple H vs Seth Rollins match at Wrestlemania 33.
The much-anticipated bout between master and student was expected to take place at Wrestlemania 32, but did not happen because of Seth Rollins facing a devastating knee injury last November.
The build to the inevitable Triple H vs Seth Rollins Wrestlemania bout should be a very good one, simply because of how organic the storyline is. It is said that Triple H has denied a match with Shane McMahon which has been considered in the past, because he wants to help elevate younger talent.
