Twitter explodes as WWE announces Jeff Jarrett will be inducted into the Hall of Fame
Earlier today, it was announced that six-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and Impact Wrestling co-founder would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, and Ivory.
Well, needless to say, the announcement sent Twitter into a frenzy! NBC Sports broke the news before WWE confirmed shortly after - then came the reaction to the controversial announcement from WWE Superstars, various wrestling promotions, and even a certain Hollywood actor!
Triple H was quick off the mark to acknowledge Double J's induction, even seemingly acknowledging his work with Impact Wrestling, if indirectly.
A former DX ally of Triple H, and now behind-the-scenes colleague Road Dogg added his congratulations too.
And another member of DX shared some choice photographs with his message of congratulations.
But one of the most surprising messages came from the company Jeff Jarrett founded with his father, then called TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling. Impact had previously tweeted about Jeff Jarrett to announce the collapse of their business relationship - but this time congratulated their founder on his honor and even tagged WWE in the post.
NWA added to the mix, congratulating their former World Champion.
And some current WWE Superstars even took to Twitter to congratulate Jarrett and even thank him for helping them on their journey to the WWE. Bobby Roode led the way before Xavier Woods even thanked Double J for handing him his television debut.
Jerry "The King" Lawler popped up with a special announcement of his own regarding the former Intercontinental Champion...
And another former WWE commentator added to the praise.
Jeff Jarrett's wife Karen also took to Twitter to congratulate her husband.
There were also, of course, some former WWE employees who took the opportunity to praise Jarrett.
And Dutch Mantell, also known as Zeb Colter, took to Twitter to reminisce and speak about how much of a shock the induction is.
Former ECW legend, WWE Superstar and announcer and current broadcasting star Taz added his grats, as Jarrett joins his good friends and fellow ECW alumni The Dudley Boyz in the Class of 2018
Even former Impact Wrestling star Grado took to Twitter to share a story about Double J and The Hulkster!
And a surprise name offered his services if someone was needed to induct Jarrett.
The Tennessee Titans even tweeted their support.
But perhaps the most surprising thanks of all came from a certain former WCW Champion...
Needless to say, while Jeff Jarrett may have been a very surprising and controversial choice, the wrestling world's reaction shows just how much respect and support Double J has.
It's great to see, and hopefully, this also continues to bridge a relationship between WWE and Impact Wrestling. Something that may have seemed very unlikely last year, but with Dixie Carter appearing on a WWE Network special and Matt Hardy burying the hatchet with Ed Norholm... Well, stranger things have happened- and Jarrett's HOF induction may be one of them!
