Two ex-AEW stars to reunite in WWE after 5 years, Big E to re-form The New Day? - 4 Potential challengers for the War Raiders

WWE Monday Night RAW last night was a massive show. There were two championship matches, plus major moves made for the red brand's transition to Netflix on January 6th.

The two title matches included Bron Breakker vs. Ludwig Kaiser with the Intercontinental Championship on the line, plus an epic tag team match. The War Raiders challenged Finn Balor and JD McDonagh for the World Tag Team Championships.

The match was fantastic, but Finn and JD attempted to cheat by using a steel chair. Thankfully, Damian Priest was there to stop them. This brief distraction was enough to allow The War Raiders to capitalize and then defeat The Judgment Day stars.

With Erik and Ivar now the World Tag Team Champions, fans are wondering what might be next. This article will take a look at four different teams who could step up to battle the new champions, including a duo who hasn't teamed up in World Wrestling Entertainment in five years.

Below are four potential challenges for The War Raiders following their win on WWE RAW.

#4. The War Raiders could wrestle against The Creed Brothers

The Creed Brothers are one of the best tag teams in pro wrestling. The WWE duo is made up of Julius Creed and Brutus Creed, who are part of American Made. The stable also features Coach Chad Gable and Ivy Nile.

American Made are trying to find their way again on WWE programming. While the group started off with a lot of promise, immediate losses to The Wyatt Sicks slowed things down considerably. Now, however, they could change their momentum.

Julius and Brutus Creed could be the next and first challengers for The War Raiders. If anyone can handle the size and surprising speed of Erik and especially Ivar, it might be the two wrestlers who move as if they've been injected with Captain America's Super Soldier Serum. They are freak athletes and might be able to end the War Raiders reign.

#3. DIY could battle Erik and Ivar in a Titles vs. Titles Match

DIY are one of the best tag teams in NXT history. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa dominated the WWE brand in both singles and tag team ranks, but are now attempting to replicate that success on the main roster.

So far, Johnny Wrestling and The Blackheart are doing a good job at it. They are two-time WWE Tag Team Champions, having just won the belts for a second time less than two weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown.

In what could be an exciting match, DIY could challenge The War Raiders in a Champions vs. Champions title match. This could then lead to temporary Undisputed Tag Team Champions, at least until the winners lose one set of belts afterwards.

#2. The Hardyz could return to WWE to challenge for gold

The Hardy Boyz are one of the most well known and beloved tag teams in wrestling history. The future WWE Hall of Famers were huge stars in The Attitude Era and throughout different periods since.

Currently, the two aren't in WWE. In fact, they haven't worked together as a duo in the company for around half a decade. With that being said, they are united in TNA Wrestling, who happens to be affiliated with the sports entertainment giant. Their working relationship could mean magic is possible.

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy could shockingly return to World Wrestling Entertainment as the TNA Wrestling Tag Team Champions. They could then attempt to dethrone The War Raiders in a clash of different generations. Can the legends handle the onslaught of Erik and Ivar?

#1. Big E could form a new version of The New Day

The story surrounding The New Day is tragic. The stable, which always consisted of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods, is seemingly no more. Xavier and Kofi shockingly betrayed and berated Big E during an episode of WWE RAW and told him to leave.

With that being said, Big E, who has been injured for nearly three years, is working towards a return. If he does make a comeback soon, he could form a new version of The New Day to challenge The War Raiders.

This new version of the WWE stable could feature a friend such as R-Truth or even Cody Rhodes, who is close to Big E and took up for the former world champion after the cruel betrayal he suffered. Either pairing could have serious potential and give Erik and Ivar a run for their money.
