Two possible matches for Wrestlemania 29 being discussed

Wrestlemania will be here in just about six weeks, and after the upcoming Monday Night RAW this Monday (which will be considered a “throw-away” show, featuring little-to-no build-up for “The Granddaddy of ‘Em All”), WWE is expected to begin their big push towards building the card for Wrestlemania 29. Right now, only two matches are official, and that’s John Cena vs. The Rock for the WWE Championship and Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight Championship. With only two matches signed, there leaves a lot of room for talents to fill out the undercard.

The first match being discussed right now is Chris Jericho vs. Mark Henry. While there has been little build-up for a feud between these two outside of being together for the Elimination Chamber match at the recent PPV, six weeks could be plenty of time to turn that around. With both guys returning recently, it would be silly to keep them off the show, so this is a quick, easy way to get them on the card. Plus, Jericho and Henry have very little experience working together, so the match is relatively fresh, which is always welcome in pro wrestling. Plus, the size and style differences could provide an interesting match, especially since Jericho is known as a guy who can get a good match out of nearly anyone.

The other match in question is Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus. This one definitely has more story, as the two UK talents have been feuding off-and-on for the past few months. Although it hasn’t been rumored yet, it would only make sense to have Barrett put his Intercontinental Championship on the line in this match, a title Sheamus has never fought for. Personally, I’m very excited and intrigued by the idea of this match. I have seen these two work on numerous occasions, and every time, Barrett and Sheamus provide the fans with a stiff, hard-hitting match that has a very old school feel to it, something I love. Put it on the biggest show of the year and include the second-oldest singles championship in the company as being up for grabs, and I think there’s definitely a winning formula here. While WWE is trying to push this feud over Barrett being something of an actor (due to a cameo in a recent WWE film), I think the feud pretty much writes itself: take two guys who are both extremely tough and rugged who both think they’re the toughest guy in WWE, and just let them beat the tar out of each other.
