Uncle Howdy to have first PLE match against former WWE Champion; The Hurt Business 2.0? - 5 things Big E can do if rumors of his return are true
Big E suffered a neck injury on the March 11, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown. He was hospitalized after Ridge Holland hit him with a Belly-To-Belly Suplex outside of the ring, and he landed on his head.
The former WWE Champion has not wrestled in over two years, but there is hope that he may return to the ring one day. Based on the latest reports, there is a possibility that he will return to reunite with The New Day if he is medically cleared.
With that being said, let's take a look at five things Big E could do if he returns to the squared circle.
#5. Big E could get The New Day on the same page and feud with The Wyatt Sicks
The New Day has not been the same since Big E got injured. They have not been a very successful tag team, and lately, there has also been tension between Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
WWE has been teasing a fallout between Kingston and Woods for a while, which may lead to the return of Big E. If they break up, he could come back to reunite them and lead the faction. They could also win the Tag Team titles again.
A feud against The Wyatt Sicks is also possible because it would allow Big E to pay tribute to his late friend, Bray Wyatt, who tragically passed away last year. The former WWE Champion could not do anything to pay homage to Wyatt on-screen as he has been on the sidelines, but if he gets cleared, he could get the chance to do it.
Uncle Howdy has never competed in a singles match at a Premium Live Event. A feud between The New Day and The Wyatt Sicks could lead to him having his first bout at a PLE against Big E.
#4. Big E could end Goldberg's WWE career
Big E considers Goldberg one of his dream opponents, and The WCW Legend is willing to give him that match. If the former is going to return to the ring soon, it would be perfect timing for him because WWE recently teased the return of Goldberg at Bad Blood.
The WWE Hall of Famer will likely have his retirement match soon, so it could be against Big E instead of Gunther.
A feud between them would be interesting because of their history. In 2022, Goldberg revealed that Big E attended one of his signings as a child. The Stamford-based promotion could use this story to build up a rivalry between an idol and his admirer.
#3. A World Championship rematch
Big E cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on Bobby Lashley on an episode of RAW three years ago to win the WWE Championship. He had a solid run with the title and surprisingly lost it to Brock Lesnar in a Fatal 5-Way match at the Day 1 Premium Live Event in 2022.
He was taken out of the title picture soon after his loss because the focus shifted to a feud between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. It is also the reason why he never got a one-on-one rematch for the title.
Fans now see the 38-year-old as a star who can compete for the World title in the sports entertainment juggernaut. Triple H could book him as a proper contender for the gold if he is cleared for action in the future.
#2. A match against Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar is the man who ended Big E's first run as the WWE Champion and crushed his hopes of headlining WrestleMania 38 as the face of RAW.
The two stars have never had a singles match, but if they ever step inside the ring together, it would definitely turn out to be a very physical encounter. If The Beast Incarnate gets cleared by WWE's legal team for a return and Big E also gets medically cleared, the latter could avenge his loss from Day 1 2022.
#1. Big E could start The Hurt Business 2.0
Bobby Lashley parted ways with WWE a few months ago, and he is reportedly headed to AEW for a reunion with MVP and Shelton Benjamin.
To tackle that, Triple H could revive The Hurt Business by having Big E take over a new version of the group on SmackDown. He could return as a heel and join forces with The Street Profits.
It would also be a beneficial move for Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins because they have not done much since Lashley left.
