WWE News: Update on Alberto Del Rio stabbing
It was reported yesterday that former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio or Alberto El Patron as he is currently known as by fans of Lucha Libre AAA, was involved in an altercation with a criminal and ended up being stabbed multiple times. Details of the incident have now come into light and it has been confirmed that the wrestler was assaulted by the driver of a car which accidentally hit Alberto’s vehicle as he was leaving for the airport in San Antonio.
Alberto had just left a restaurant and was heading to the AAA Heroes Immortales event in Mexico. The driver in question hit Alberto’s car after which the two men got into a heated argument. Alberto, realizing that he would be late for his flight to Mexico, turned around to get into his car after mentioning that he was in a hurry and it was at this time when the driver attacked him from behind.
Alberto was slashed in his back before he realized what was happening and then turned around to face the driver who then tried to slash Alberto’s face. The driver managed to slash the top of Alberto’s head before the Mexican wrestler took his attacker down to the ground.
The attacker was relentless as he managed to slash Alberto’s arm multiple times before the AAA star could take away the knife at which point his attacker fled the scene. There were witnesses at the scene and one of them reportedly noted the license plates of the attacker’s vehicle.
Alberto was taken to the hospital following this unfortunate event and he reportedly tried to charter a plane to make it to the AAA event in time. He had also lost his phone during the messy altercation and failed to inform the AAA management on time.
Lucha Libre management was initially upset with Alberto as he had not been able to inform them. They have since then taken back the statement they had made on the issue after they received news of the assault. Reports are now saying that Alberto is in good terms again with AAA although he could not make it to the show and was missed by his fans at the event. Alberto is set to appear for the scheduled shows in UK even though he has visible lacerations on his arms and head.
