Vince McMahon's surprising comments on falling TV ratings

McMahon during a WWE event

WWE CEO Vince McMahon addressed the issue of the franchises’ falling ratings during a meeting with investors to discuss the company’s Fourth Quarter earnings, and stated that the franchise doesn’t lose sleep over the dip in ratings anymore.

The topic of the show’s ratings being in the low was raised by an investor, to which Vince replied that WWE’s ratings are not as low as the other programs that broadcast on the networks they work with.

The CEO also noted that TV doesn’t draw as many viewers as it used to. Vince also made sure to mention that TV was still relevant to WWE, but digital and social content have also pulled in the bucks for the company.

The 70-year-old also stated that WWE was much more than just TV, and mentioned that the franchise doesn’t ‘live and die’ by TV ratings anymore.

Injuries and the impact they’d have on the franchise, most notably WrestleMania 32 was also brought up, along with how WWE would address them – to which Vince replied: “By being creative. We’ll have an awesome WrestleMania. It’ll be very attractive to our audience, just as attractive as last year.”
