Vince wants legends back, WWE issues statement on Rusev injury

Desperate times for Vince McMahon

– WWE viewership in recent months has steadily fallen. Fans are fed up with the stale product that Vince McMahon & Co. has been putting out. WWE creative has lost its touch with the current product which is the main reason for the drop in the ratings.

WWE tried to fix this up last week on RAW with the comeback of some of the legends of the Attitude Era such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels.

It is speculated that the WWE are set to make more of such moves by getting Brock Lesnar to appear more often and by making Undertaker return to Smackdown. Vince McMahon has been trying to tie up some of the past superstars for appearances and has been looking up at possible dates.

This move may be a gamble as the appearances on the past RAW did not cause any significant changes in the viewership.

WWE Smackdown may see a number of past superstars returning next year as the USA Network have been pressurising the WWE in doing so. The executives from the USA Network have stated that they want a product which is must see TV.

It is also rumoured that Mr.McMahon desperately wants the Rock back on TV for a few appearances so that it could create a buzz. Vince realises that the Rock is one of the biggest stars in the wrestling business as well as Hollywood and would definitely want to cash on him to increase the viewership.

– Rusev who recently finished his program with Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae looks set to be included in the new stable with Sheamus and King Barrett. Rusev suffered an ankle injury a few months back and looks set to be out for about a month after he got injured during the recent Main Event tapings.

WWE released a statement saying that Rusev suffered a bicep tendon rupture and could be out for three to four weeks. The WWE website released this statement.

Rusev sustained a proximal bicep tendon rupture during his match with Neville at the WWE Main Event tapings Tuesday night, WWE.com can confirm. The match was called due to the injury, and the former U.S. Champion’s recovery time is currently slated at three to four weeks.
