Video: Slow motion footage of Tomasso Ciampa's injury

How badly is this former NXT Tag Team champion hurt leading into Takeover?

What’s the story?

Yesterday, we touched upon the injury suffered by former NXT Tag Team champion Tomasso Ciampa during a live event in Highland Heights, KY. Now, we’ve got footage of the injury as it happened and – ick – in slow motion.

The background

Last night, during a live event just outside of Cincinnati, OH, Tomasso Ciampa participated in a match with his usual D.I.Y. tag partner, Johnny Gargano, against SAnitY members Eric Young and Desmond Wolfe.

However, following a suicide dive, Ciampa appeared to injure his leg, causing the match to end in a no-contest and requiring Ciampa to get medical attention.

The heart of the matter

Thanks to Twitter user @briantheguppie, we now have a closer look at just what happened to Ciampa.

While it seems to be a routine move (or, at least, as “routine” as a leap from the apron to the floor can be), Ciampa clearly lands on his leg precariously, which can certainly lead to injury.

What’s next?

At the moment, we still don’t know the extent of Ciampa’s injury and how it will affect this Saturday’s Tag Team Championship match against The Authors Of Pain at NXT Takeover: Chicago.

In American Football terms, this is probably a “game-time decision”, but the prognosis doesn’t seem good.

Author’s take

That is a nasty looking injury, whichever way you look at it. There’s still time for an announcement regarding the match on Saturday and we’ll have to wait and see what happens. And, when something does happen, you can be sure Sportskeeda Wrestling will be among the first to let you know.
