What's the story?

The Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 34 was a show full of surprises and returns and SmackDown Live will certainly be no different.

However, the first surprise of the night for the live crowd at New Orleans was a dark match involving Becky Lynch and Ruby Riott.

In case you didn't know...

Lynch and Riott were two of the more over Superstars who took place in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, and both Superstars received widespread praise for their fan interaction at WWE Axxess.

The heart of the matter

It seems that WWE creative had nothing for Lynch and Riott, accompanied by the rest of the Riott Squad, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan as the two were booked to face off in the dark match of SmackDown Live.

The match finished when the former Smackdown Women's champion got Riott in the Disarm Her and forced the leader of the Riott Squad to tap-out.

This match was very well received online with the reaction indicating most people were disappointed it wouldn't make it onto television because of how good it was.

Here are some Twitter reactions.

What's next?

As some people have suggested in their tweets this could mean that Becky Lynch's time on SmackDown Live is coming to an end.

Lynch going to Monday Night Raw would be a good thing because currently, she's so far away from when she was the first women picked in the WWE draft and is in desperate need of a change.

Author's take

I'm gutted this match couldn't make it onto the card but I'm sure everyone who saw it live appreciated it.

I'm a big fan of both Lynch and Riott and I hope both women see success in the WWE this year.
