What if Seth Rollins wins the WWE Royal Rumble 2019?
Seth Rollins has established himself as one of WWE’s ultimate go-to performers. In his recent history, he put on an iron man performance during a gauntlet match in Raw and worked a starring role in a six-man tag before working a main event singles match for another episode.
Particularly in the absence of Roman Reigns, and while Braun Strowman’s medical status has been touch and go, WWE has leaned on Rollins as a dependable star to carry Raw.
The question now is whether WWE might go all the way with The Architect. Rollins is about as likely as anyone, particularly from the Raw side of WWE, to win the Royal Rumble and go on to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
Particularly given Rollins’ clout from his previous WWE Championship reign, and the quality of his in-ring performances over this past year, he is situated as a believable main eventer and quite feasibly the guy who might pull the best match out of Lesnar at ‘Mania.
Might WWE go so far as to book Rollins to defeat the Beast Incarnate? It’s not a foregone conclusion by any means, but particularly under the conventional wisdom that WWE will take the title off of Lesnar at WrestleMania and he’ll be away for a bit, it’s hard to think of many better options than The Kingslayer.
Though beating Lesnar would be the biggest win of Rollins’ career, he’d also remain an underdog to bigger challengers to his title moving forward. Drew McIntyre, in particular, would pose a real threat, besides which Rollins has unfinished business with both Dean Ambrose and Bobby Lashley.
A return visit to Rollins vs. Finn Balor in a face vs. face program would produce fantastic matches to boot. One way or another Seth Rollins is a likely iron man in this year’s Rumble. He might represent a something of a throwback, too, as an early entrant to run the distance en route to victory.
