WWE News: What Kevin Owens did at Clash of Champions was genius, and you may very well have missed it

The face of brilliance

So, if you watched WWE SmackDown's Clash of Champions, you'll already know that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeated Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura in a match mired in controversy, but we spotted something you may just have missed!

In short, the match was destined to be controversial as we discovered there would be not one, but two special guest referees, one being Shane McMahon, the other being Daniel Bryan.

Over the past few weeks, we've been told the story of Shane O'Mac having a vendetta against Owens and Zayn after Owens headbutted his father and Zayn pulled Owens off of an announce table as Shane leapt off of the Hell In A Cell to try put him away.

Still with us? Okay. Well, we knew that there was a good chance tonight of Shane not playing by the book, and it wasn't long before Shane had the job of counting to three, but seemed to have second thoughts and stop at the two count. Now, this is where Kevin Owens shows yet again that he's on another level when it comes to running his mouth.

Now, we all know Shane as a daredevil, jumping off of the top of Hell In A Cell, leaping from the set around the Titan Tron and even surviving a plane crash this year - and he's always 100% committed to his character, so seeing the fan favourite be vindictive and stop counting was inevitable.

After Shane freezes, Owens squares up to him and yells into his face, "You fall off buildings and you get back up but you can't count to three?!"

Just another example of KO improvising his lines and stealing the show as we've seen so many times on WWE TV since he first burst onto the seen to rival John Cena.

Owens continues to grab the brass ring and, after he and Sami Zayn saved their jobs tonight with a win, it'll be very interesting to see how the rest of this story with Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon plays out, and just what happens on the Kevin and Sami Show on Tuesday.
