What's next for Randy Orton in WWE?
It's been reported by the PWInsider that SmackDown wrestler Randy Orton is expected to take time off WWE during early 2018, which is also the "WrestleMania" season. With that being said, it seems Randy Orton hasn't been in much of a relevant program since his championship feud with Jinder Mahal. Hence, the question arises what creative plans are there left for Orton to be involved with.
Many fans and critics have felt that his baby-face role has worn out. Is it finally time to turn Orton into a heel to generate interest amongst fans?
It may seem to be a great possibility due to the lack of ideas for Orton to be involved with, for the time being. It's also worth noting that there haven't been much of news lately about Orton's involvement at this year's WrestleMania, despite being considered as one of WWE's top-talent. Even though he had a long-term feud with Bray Wyatt in 2016, it seems that WWE hasn't had much for him to do since his departure from the Authority stable in 2014.
However, keep in mind that Orton is only 37 years-old. Thereby, he could possibly continue to wrestle and be involved with creative ideas for several years to come. And if WWE does eventually turn Orton heel, being a solo-heel may work best for him without being in some sort of group. And if he is, he could make for an interesting villainous leader like when he led the Legacy group almost a decade ago.
When he was a heel with the Authority and the Wyatt family, Orton had to rely on other superstars like Bray Wyatt and Triple H. The fact that this idea could happen may open up to so many creative ideas for his character. Who knows, he may even end up winning back a world title this year.
