What to Expect from Hulk Hogan's Birthday Celebration on Raw
The upcoming episode of raw is not only the go- home show for Summerslam on Sunday but also a celebration of Hulk Hogan’s birthday. The Hulkster turns 61 years old and this is the second time in 3 years that the WWE is making a birthday theme out of an entire episode. Many of you might remember the 39th birthday celebration of The Rock on Raw in 2011.
Such an occasion leads to speculations surrounding the special moments planned by the WWE. Is a legend going to return? Is Hulk Hogan going to make an important announcement? There are many reasons that such a theme might have been put into play.
Firstly, Summerslam is this Sunday, so the WWE needs as many eyeballs as possible for the Raw before one of their biggest PPVs. Hogan’s birthday can be a trigger for more viewers watching Raw. But his presence might not be enough. For the night to be grand, there are many other possibilities on the horizon.
Sting Debuts
Sting is one wrestler who never really needed WWE to make a name for himself. His legend, his reputation in the wrestling industry is unparalleled. He is arguably one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. His popularity is as potent as ever.
And he was able to build all of this without even stepping inside a WWE ring. That sums up how relevant he is. That also sums up why WWE has reportedly been trying to negotiate with him for years. Finally, all of that paid off and Sting will be featured as a pre-bonus character in the WWE 2K15 video game.
What was pleasantly surprising was that he made an appearance at the San Diego Comic Con alongside Hulk Hogan and Daniel Bryan, thus giving the speculation of a possible WWE debut in the future a whole new life.
All these appearances this year has made many of his fans want to see him on the biggest platforms in the WWE, Raw being one of them. How apt will it be if he makes an appearance on Raw for Hogan’s birthday. That will be awesome if handled right. And given that he is such a relevant personality in the world of professional wrestling, his debut in the biggest wrestling promotion has to be scripted just right. It can be as grand as the opening segment of Wrestlemania 30 when Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock shared a moment in time.
Here Comes The Pain
Hogan knows a thing or two about the pain that Lesnar can induce. Hogan was one of the many wrestlers that Lesnar crushed on his way as the Next Big Thing in his debut year. One of his trademarks was to splash the blood of his opponent onto his chest. Hogan was one of them.
And as this is the last Raw before Summerslam, Lesnar might want to be the party crasher. This can also play into the Cena-Lesnar storyline as it gives Cena the opportunity to come make the save for Hogan and end the night on a high and facing off against Lesnar. If there is anything that I’ve learnt from being an ardent WWE fan for years, it is about predicting how things shall end on the raw before a PPV. And this what ideally will happen. But I’ll be glad if there is something else that can take place.
Wooooooooooo!!!
Another report is about Ric Flair coming back to Raw . His appearance can have much better results if he finally gets a consistent role to play. This might be the best night for an official announcement concerning his role on television which has been speculated about for a while. He can be a great manager and his daughter just might make her debut on the main roster anytime soon.
But most of all, it’ll be great to see Flair and Hogan in a WWE ring. This can very well erase the awful turn of events in TNA.
