When Cody Rhodes revealed why he wanted to be Randy Orton but didn't know if he could

Cody Rhodes once revealed that he idolized Randy Orton to the point of wanting to be just like him. However, Rhodes was unsure if he had what it takes to do what Orton was doing back then.

At one point in their careers, Rhodes and Orton were part of a faction called Legacy with Ted DiBiase Jr. The group lasted for a year and a half, but the bond remained between The American Nightmare and The Viper.

In an appearance on the Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold Steve Austin last year, Rhodes told an unbelievable road trip story about Orton. He also revealed why he wanted to be just like the Master of the RKO.

"Riding with Randy was always unique," Rhodes said. "I still have the scar. I got busted open in Lafayette and I got nine cable stitches in my forehead. Driving with him, he told me, 'You should stick your head out of the window, air it out.' Stick my head out of the window, 'pop, pop,' blood pouring down my face." [1:06 - 1:25]

Cody Rhodes added that they went to a club afterward, and Randy Orton convinced a security guy to let them park somewhere they weren't allowed to. That's when he told Steve Austin why he wanted to be like Randy but was unsure he had what it takes to be like him.

"This guy," Rhodes said. "I don't want to be like him, but I do. He's my hero, but I don't if I have what it takes." [1:53 - 2:00]

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton have so much history together

Ever since Cody Rhodes returned to WWE, fans have wanted him to feud with Randy Orton due to their history together. They briefly reunited last year in an eight-man tag team match, but many members of the WWE Universe would love to see a one-on-one bout.

Orton has been out with an injury since May of last year but has been rumored to be returning very soon. With Cody's story with Roman Reigns still not finished, fans might have to wait before they can see him face his hero.
