Who should challenge the United States Champion next?
The current United States Champion Dean Ambrose is undoubtedly one of the brightest prospects in WWE today. Giving him the US title gives him the leverage to concentrate as a singles wrestler along with being a part of the Shield. His reign as a US Champion has gone well, and with news of Kofi Kingston‘s injury, WWE now needs to find wrestlers who can match his credibility and challenge for the US title. Here are a few possible wrestlers who can be considered decent opponents for Ambrose.
1. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes is undoubtedly one of the most underrated wrestlers in the roster at the moment. Rhodes and Sandow were doing extremely well as a team and WWE teased them with a title opportunity for a moment. It all came down pretty fast for the two after their momentary break-up that destroyed all the momentum they had. After this, things have not been rosy for the duo as they have hardly made any sort of impact in both the shows. Giving Rhodes a small push with him going against Ambrose can give both these wrestlers a lot of positives. Ambrose, who will surely emerge victorious, can solidify his stand as the US Champion and Rhodes, after a healthy feud, can help redeem his position and carry on a feud with someone else.
2. Christian
One wrestler who we have been waiting for quite sometime now. Christian was scheduled to return at Royal Rumble this year, and ever since, we have only heard rumours and talks regarding his return. Christian is one wrestler who will be able to make Ambrose sweat to defend his title. With Ambrose’s unique style of offense and character, and Christian’s evergreen charisma, this is a feud that can give us a lot of entertaining moments. Just hoping that we get to see Christian soon so that he brings a tough challenge that Ambrose will need to defend his title against.
3. Antonio Cesaro
Anyone remember this name? This guy was a former United States Champion, and had a strong reign with it. Just when Cesaro looked dominant and ready to take the the title reign to a whole new level, out came WWE with a brilliant plan of keeping him on the sidelines. Apparently WWE felt that Cesaro lacked the entertainment factor and was boring, which is by far the most ridiculous reason I have heard. Anyway, speaking of Ambrose vs Cesaro, it would mean that Cesaro needs to turn face. WWE have tried Cesaro as a face who, despite doing quite well, failed to impress them. Now, if WWE creative try him as a face against Ambrose, I’m sure they will get more than what they bargained for.
