What’s the Story?

The Velveteen Dream gave us yet another dazzling entrance during NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia on Saturday. Dream was accompanied by an unidentified woman and a very large man.

In Case You Didn’t Know

WWE will continue to have extravagant entrances for the Velveteen Dream at TakeOver events as they feel it adds quite a lot to his character. Expect his special entrances to get bigger and much more extravagant.

The Velveteen Dream defeated Kassius Ohno in a well-received match at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia.

The Heart of the Matter

The Velveteen Dream was accompanied by a man and woman waiting for him at ringside to present him with a mouth guard for his attempted boxing match with Ohno. As of this writing, the woman remains unidentified. However, the rather large man was played by "Blaster McMassive" Thomas Sharpe of EVOLVE & CHIKARA fame.

Sharpe still works for EVOLVE & CHIKARA, and is currently not signed with WWE. It is always possible WWE could sign him, especially due to his look, but for now this was just a once off. WWE likes to use local independent wrestlers to play extras during segments.

What’s Next?

Sharpe will continue to wrestle for EVOLVE & CHIKARA, as well as on the Indies. WWE may look to use him again or may even give him a tryout. Performers of his stature don't often have a hard time in securing a tryout for WWE. The woman's identity will likely be revealed in the next day or so.

Author’s Take

Always nice to see the local independents play a part in WWE events. Thomas Sharpe is very talented for a man of his size, so hopefully, WWE will give him an official look sometime soon. There is a lot they could do with a man of his qualities.
