Why won't Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan defend the WWE Crown Jewel Championship?
Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan won the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championships at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 2, 2024. The American Nightmare defeated Gunther in the main event of the night, while Morgan was victorious against Nia Jax. Both superstars were honored with the titles after winning the match and also at the end of the show.
However, Rhodes and Morgan won't be defending these Crown Jewel titles throughout the year at other WWE pay-per-views. It's mainly because the Crown Jewel Championship is not a traditional belt to be defended but rather an annual prize for the winners of champion vs. champion matches at the Crown Jewel mega event every year.
WWE CCO Triple H had announced before the show that the winners wouldn't be taking their titles back home. The titles will be kept at the WWE Experience Area, where fans will be able to see them.
So what do Rhodes and Morgan get for winning these titles? The winners were given rings, which would be a testament to their victory at the Crown Jewel event. Triple H compared these rings to Super Bowl rings, saying that it shows that they are true champions of WWE. He further said that there would be a competition for how many rings people could collect over the years.
Cody Rhodes' Crown Jewel title is more expensive than Liv Morgan's title
Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan emerged as the two champions of the night at the Crown Jewel PLE. However, the belt Rhodes received was more expensive compared to the one given to Morgan.
It's all because of the embedded stones fixed on their respective titles. While both the belts have 50 carats of diamonds and even more emeralds, the Men's title is a bit more expensive, with 3,356 stones.
Meanwhile, Morgan's title is embedded with 3,273 stones, which is 83 fewer compared to Cody Rhodes' Crown Jewel title.
The Crown Jewel Championships no doubt set the beginning of a new era in WWE. In the coming years, WWE Champions from both brands will be fighting for the coveted title.
Cody Rhodes had a tough battle against Gunther. The Ring General pretty much dominated Cody throughout the match, but The American Nightmare had the last laugh when he countered a sleeper with a rolling-back move and went for a pin. It might not be considered as the most comprehensive victory, but still, it was a win for Cody.
Liv Morgan, on the other hand, had to rely on some help from her Judgment Day mates Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio to win the match. The duo also countered WWE Women's Money in the Bank winner Tiffany Stratton from cashing in her briefcase, possibly against Morgan. They also distracted Nia Jax, which allowed Morgan to get the better of her.
