Why did Drew McIntyre quit on WWE RAW? Exploring the potential behind-the-scenes reason
Drew McIntyre made headlines last night on RAW when he announced his decision to quit WWE. It was a huge deal that left the WWE Universe as well as the backstage personnel, including Adam Pearce and Triple H, shocked. But what was the reason behind The Scottish Warrior's drastic decision?
Well, the easy answer is CM Punk, but it's a lot more complicated than that. The Voice of The Voiceless is indeed the primary reason behind McIntyre's decision to quit, but it has more to do with future storylines than it does with his anger toward Punk. After all, WrestleVotes recently reported that The Straight Edge Superstar could be cleared for an in-ring return at SummerSlam.
Assuming this is the case, WWE could have decided to shelve Drew McIntyre for a few weeks, only to bring him back at the opportune moment. This way, the 39-year-old can get a good break that will likely stretch beyond Money in the Bank before returning to exact his revenge on CM Punk. So, rather than come up with some elaborate story, having McIntyre ''quit'' made much more sense.
It will be interesting to see how things develop going forward. But as things stand, this is all just hypothetical. There is no telling if McIntyre will return to face CM Punk once the latter is clear, or if he plans on returning at all. The WWE Universe will have to wait and see what happens.
Drew McIntyre has deactivated his social media accounts
On top of quitting WWE, it seems as though Drew McIntyre has quit social media as well. Following his shocking announcement, Michael Cole revealed on RAW that The Scottish Psychopath had also deactivated all his social media accounts. This came as a surprise, especially given how active he was in the last few months.
It was an interesting choice on Drew McIntyre's part. Now that he is off social media, it's unlikely the WWE Universe will get any update regarding his future, at least from his side. With the world completely in the dark, there is no telling what McIntyre plans to do now that he is seemingly out of a job.
It will be interesting to see when the former World Heavyweight Champion returns on social media.
