Why Sandow climb up the ladder faster than Rhodes?
Team Rhodes Scholar recently announced their break up and it was indeed a shocking news for us. While most of us expected them to be the next Tag Team Champions, they surprisingly were made to go their separate ways. Now that they are on their own paths, it is necessary to see who holds greater momentum.
When you look at Cody Rhodes, you will see a long career of about 5-6 years. Rhodes has worked his tail off to get to where he is today and despite his hard work, he seems to have only gone back a few years. Rhodes was excellent when he was a part of Legacy and he did great with his “Dashing” gimmick. But of late, Rhodes’ character has become stale. Rhodes has been unable to separate himself from the other heels in the company, mainly because he doesn’t have a trademark character of his own. A wrestler can be given a push only when he is able to appeal to the masses with his character and Rhodes has unfortunately, failed to do so.
But when you look at Sandow, you are quite certain of his gimmick. The ‘Intellectual Saviour of the Masses’ has a better persona when compared to Rhodes. Sandow, right from his entry into WWE, has been able to make an impact and courtesy WWE, he has gotten just the right gimmick that suits his style and attitude.
While most of us might feel Rhodes is the more deserving candidate when it comes to the top spot, it is important to see who makes a greater impact when on top. Cody did great as an Intercontinental Champion yes, but will he look intimidating with the WWE Championship? I don’t think so. The reason is his mic skills. For long we have seen that Cody is not that good on the mic. Maybe he is better than a few but to be a top wrestler in WWE, you need to have exceptional mic skills which Sandow possesses. Sandow makes huge impact with the mic and is able to get quite a decent response from the crowd.
Though I like Cody Rhodes, I will in no way mind him being in the mid-card status while Sandow is being pushed to the top. Rhodes is young and his age will play an extremely important factor for his future in WWE. Despite spending close to 7 years in WWE, Rhodes still has time to wait for the right feud and push from the Organisation.
Now that both these wrestlers have split, it is time we wait and see how WWE takes these two wrestlers ahead. Irrespective of how they are used now, both these wrestlers will have a splendid 2013 after Wrestlemania. For now, all they have to do is play the given role to the best of their ability. Sandow in particular is doing exceptionally well and has improved a great deal with regard to his in ring skills.
