Why Shinsuke Nakamura shouldn't win the Royal Rumble

Shinsuke Nakamura doesn't have good promo skills

The Royal Rumble is just two weeks away and still, there is no clear favourite at the moment. However, there is one person who should not win the 30-man match and that is Shinsuke Nakamura. He is currently the odds-on favorite to win the match and go on to headline WrestleMania 34.

Nakamura is one of the most charismatic and best in-ring workers the WWE has, but his main roster run has been lacklustre, to say the least. He debuted on the Smackdown episode after Wrestlemania 33 and began a feud with Dolph Ziggler shortly after.

After that, he feuded with Baron Corbin, who attacked him during his entrance at Money in the Bank. Nakamura did have clean victories over both John Cena and Randy Orton, but he eventually lost to then WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. After losing to Mahal Nakamura has been teaming up with Orton to face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Nakamura's other problem is that he doesn't have good promo skills, mostly due to the language barrier. In NXT that isn't as big of a problem since it's meant for a smaller audience. However, on the main roster, it is an issue since millions of people are watching weekly on television or by other means, as well as thousands are in attendance at the arenas.

If Nakamura were to win the Rumble match and the WWE Championship he would have to cut a promo almost weekly, and if that happens his flaws on the microphone would be exposed.

Most people want to see Nakamura win the Royal Rumble so that we can see the dream match between him and AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 34. While I can understand that, it doesn't mean that Nakamura deserves to win the Royal Rumble, as we can get to Styles v. Nakamura in another way.

I just feel that Nakamura has no momentum at all right now. Plus, if Nakamura's first WWE Championship program is a sign of how things would go if he does win the WWE title, then it is not a good sign for him or WWE.
