Why Undertaker vs Drew McIntyre must happen at SummerSlam 2019
It is safe to say that Drew McIntyre's character has cooled down considerably over the past few months. After re-debuting on the main roster following WrestleMania 35, the Scottish Psychopath went on a year which saw him decimate his opponents and establish his dominance to become one of the top dogs on RAW.
But, 2019, sadly, hasn't been kind to the former NXT Champion. After a lackluster feud against his former tag team partner, Dolph Ziggler, McIntyre would feud against the re-formed Shield alongside Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley, a feud where McIntyre and his band of boys were essentially served as fodder to The Shield.
The Scottish Psychopath would then move on to feud with Roman Reigns which culminated in a match between the duo at WrestleMania 35. Reigns defeated McIntyre at Mania in a match which failed to live up to expectations. While their rematch at Stomping Grounds was slightly better, it ended with McIntyre once again loosing to The Big Dog.
Drew's partnership with Shane McMahon hasn't done any favors for him either. Him acting as Shane's lackey has made McIntyre look like a goof at times which has resulted in him losing a lot of steam. McIntyre and Shane are currently scheduled for a tag team match against Roman Reigns and The Undertaker at Extreme Rules.
It is being reported that The Deadman has given WWE a potential list of opponents that he would like to work with following his return this past week on RAW and McIntyre is one of them. Following his back-to-back losses to Reigns, McIntyre desperately needs a big-time feud heading into SummerSlam and it doesn't any bigger than a match against The Phenom at The Biggest Party of The Summer.
We all remember what McIntyre's dominant win over Kurt Angle last year did for his career. Although we believe that his match against Taker won't be as one-sided as the one with Angle, it goes without saying that the Scotsman has to go over, if this match were to take place. Although Taker's recent performances inside the squared circle have been disappointing, we believe that a strong showing against McIntyre at SummerSlam will wipe out any bad memories fans had regarding his previous matches.
McIntyre has all the makings of being the next big thing in the company. All he needs at the moment is a big money feud against an established opponent which takes him to the next level.
A win over a legend like Undertaker at SummerSlam would skyrocket Mcintyre's career as a main event star. If given the right amount of time and build up, this has the potential of being one of the best feuds of the summer.
