Will Batista ever return to WWE?
Former WWE Superstar Batista is one of the most legendary figures in the world of professional wrestling. The 55-year-old has been making waves in Hollywood ever since he transitioned from being a full-time wrestler to a movie star in 2010. He officially retired from in-ring competition in 2019. However, his recent comments have sparked rumors of his return, leaving fans anticipating his much-awaited comeback.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Dave Bautista expressed his nostalgia for being a WWE Superstar, stating that he misses the vibrant fans and their passion. The Animal also mentioned that he dreams of fond memories of the times when he used to walk out through the WWE ramp upon hearing his theme song amid a thunderous crowd.
While his comments did ignite a firestorm of excitement among fans regarding a WWE return, the possibility of it happening is relatively low. The former World Heavyweight Champion is unlikely to return to the Stamford-based promotion anytime soon as he is quite content with how his pro wrestling career came to an end at WrestleMania 35.
Dave Bautista believes his return would tarnish the fairytale ending that his wrestling career has had. Hence, he is strongly against the idea of making an in-ring return, as the 55-year-old feels it to be redundant. However, The Animal expressed sanguine thoughts about returning to the company to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at some point.
The former Evolution member was originally scheduled to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2020. However, the pandemic delayed the ceremony and the star requested the company to be inducted in a future ceremony in front of fans.
Real reason why Batista is reluctant to come out of retirement
With Batista being one of the most iconic figures in the industry, fans often crave to see him come out of retirement for at least one match. However, The Animal does not seem to have any such plans. The real reason why he is reluctant to return to in-ring action is how his career came to an end.
The 55-year-old believes that very few superstars get to finish their careers on their own terms, and he is one of them. Batista had always longed to have his retirement match in WWE against none other than Triple H, and he had gotten that at WrestleMania 35 when the two legends tore the house down in a No Holds Barred match.
With him receiving a fairytale ending to his pro wrestling career, the Hollywood icon considers it more than a privilege. He is extremely grateful for the way it culminated in 2019, and hence The Animal does not want to ruin that fond memory of his farewell match.
It will be interesting to see whether fans get to witness Batista in WWE in some capacity in the near future or if his next appearance will be during his Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
