Will Roman Reigns win the Battle Royal and leave The Shield behind?

Every WWE fan is aware about Roman Reigns‘ impending big push and assumptions have been made that this “big push” will kick off with a win at the Royal Rumble, which will also become the reason for The Shield’s eventual break-up. However, in today’s episode of SmackDown The Shield stated that their team would remain intact even if one of them wins the Royal Rumble match and headlines WrestleMania.

On the latest episode of SmackDown, we saw Renee Young interviewing all three members of The Shield on how strongly those three will be united in their Royal Rumble match. Dean Ambrose told Renee that The Shield will always remain the most dominating group in the WWE, but the United States Champion was interrupted by Seth Rollins who spoke out his thoughts about eliminating Dean Ambrose if the right opportunity arrives. Ambrose, annoyed, in return said that he will eliminate Rollins. It looked like the matter would get worse until Roman Reigns interrupted them both and said that if he likes he can eliminate both of them, but gave more importance to their group by saying that it doesn’t matter who wins the Royal Rumble and headlines WrestleMania, what’s important is that The Shield will stay together.

This backstage interview gave weight to Roman Reigns’ desire to see The Shield stay united, making the other two members look greedy, but it also presented us with many other possibilities. One strong possibility hints at a betrayal by Ambrose and Rollins, since Reigns is heading for a face turn, it’s more likely that Ambrose and Rollins will turn on Reigns and try to eliminate the big guy, which will lead to intense tensions among the group, maybe even to their break-up, but the chances of those two eliminating Reigns are very low, in fact Reigns might eliminate them in turn.

The other possibility may see Ambrose and Rollins causing Reigns the match just when he is only one elimination away from the win. In this case, Reigns will find it a tough decision to choose between either staying with The Shield or moving on in his path, and that would be where his impending “big push” would lie, and he would start it by beating the other two members of The Shield first.

But, the most ideal scenario sees Reigns winning the Royal Rumble despite betrayal and malice by his teammates Ambrose and Rollins, because he has to build on his storyline for WrestleMania XXX with the “big push” in his hand. And once Reigns wins the Royal Rumble, his way out of The Shield towards winning ‘big’ in the WWE would be clear.

One thing that is clear after this backstage interview is that Reigns is not going to betray his teammates, he will fight them like a man and won’t stab them in the back, the other two seeing him as a threat will definitely try to eliminate him. And after the betrayal, there would be no point for Reigns to stay in the group, and if he wins the Royal Rumble (which he probably will) then this betrayal won’t bother him. He would move on and leave The Shield behind.
